Recap by phillip woo
Firming favourite Diamond Friends got shuffled back to have two behind him at the 600m but finished strongly down the outside to mow down Equity Doctrine 40m out for the win. He was attractively rated following a stable change and can win his way out of this class. Well-backed late, Equity Doctrine wouldn't go away without a fight after assuming the lead 100m out following a deep run without cover travelling fore of midfield. It was a good effort in defeat and he'll be winning shortly on this surface. Jimson The Famous kept on gamely for a placing after getting pestered for the lead by Faithful Boy and then Happy Beauty. He's always a chance at this level. Double Point came on well from behind midfield to fill a quartet spot. He's not reliable but appears to handle both surfaces. Specked late, top-weighted Best Tango was given a lovely ride to find the fence in midfield from a wide gate but only plodded when push came to shove.
