Early favourite Green Card just held on for the win after rushing to the front 50m out following a deep run travelling beyond midfield with cover. He's honest and was suited by the rise in trip after a good run on opening day. He'll remain competitive off a light weight up in class. Imperial Gallantry unleashed a good burst late two from the right after making his run behind Green Card to just miss. He doesn't always turn up on raceday but has always shown the ability. Pretty Bauhinia stayed on well following a midfield run from a better gate to get the whisker down for a placing. He could be on track now after six unplaced runs last season. Bring It On came with a sterling bid late down the outside to just miss a placing after settling second from the rear from a wide gate. Gonna Run got home well when shifting into the open four from the right at the 200m following a patient ride second from the rear.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten: (46) - WOODPECKER HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters

When entering the track, KINGSFIELD kicked a rail.

On arrival at the Start, KINGSFIELD was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

GREEN CARD began awkwardly and lost ground.

As the start was effected, CHEERFUL BOY lifted its front feet off the ground.

IMPERIAL GALLANTRY shifted out at the start, resulting in GONNA RUN being taken out onto HAY RUN which was steadied away from the heels of SIR REDALOT.

KINGSFIELD shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of MIGHTY MAVERICK.

From the outside barriers, GENERAL DINO and BRING IT ON were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After the 800 Metres, MIGHTY MAVERICK was left racing wide and without cover.

CHEERFUL BOY lost its right front plate after the 800 Metres.

Rounding the Home Turn, WINSTON'S LAD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHEERFUL BOY.

Passing the 350 Metres, PRETTY BAUHINIA was shifted in away from the heels of BEAUTY LOVE to obtain clear running.

Approaching the 300 Metres, CHEERFUL BOY, which was giving ground, lay in and bumped the hindquarters of WINSTON'S LAD, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.

Passing the 300 Metres, CHEERFUL BOY, which was continuing to give ground, was steadied when crowded for room between PRETTY BAUHINIA and WINSTON'S LAD which was taken out by SUCH A HAPPINESS (C Schofield) which shifted out to obtain clear running.

C Schofield was advised to ensure that he exercises due care when shifting ground to obtain clear running.

After this, SUCH A HAPPINESS and WINSTON'S LAD bumped on a number of occasions due to both horses shifting ground and passing the 200 Metres SIR REDALOT, which was giving ground abruptly, was steadied away from the heels of SUCH A HAPPINESS which shifted in after becoming unbalanced and then was taken in by WINSTON'S LAD which shifted in.

After the 300 Metres, BRING IT ON was brushed by IMPERIAL GALLANTRY which shifted out away from GENERAL DINO.

Approaching the 100 Metres, HAY RUN, which was finishing off the race strongly, was shifted out away from the heels of BEAUTY LOVE which was giving ground.

Near the 50 Metres, WINSTON'S LAD was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of KINGSFIELD.

A veterinary inspection of SIR REDALOT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SUCH A HAPPINESS, GREEN CARD and IMPERIAL GALLANTRY were sent for sampling.

GENERAL:

1.

After the running of Race 1, the track classification was officially changed from "Good" to "Good to Firm" This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.

As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 1 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm"

C Schofield was fined the sum of $2,000 for failing to arrive on course by the required time.

Omission from Racing Incidents Report of 13 September 2017 Happy Valley Racemeeting - Race 7 (35) Over the concluding stages, JUMBO HAPPINESS was awkwardly placed inside the heels of BREEDERS' STAR and as a consequence was not able to be fully tested.

Racing Laboratory tests of SKY TREASURE, CATCHMEIFYOUCAN, GREAT TOPLIGHT, PLAY IT, BO DUKE, THE SYLPH, SPEEDY WALLY, VICTORY FOLLOW ME, FLYING MONKEY, DR RACE, OCEAN ROAR, FOX SUNTER, PHANTOM FALCON, DOLLAR REWARD, BRAVE LEGEND, POWERMAX, THUNDER STOMP, KIRAM, UNICORN, CONVINCIBLE and ALMABABY (6.9.17) proved negative.
