Proud Sky came with a bold run after travelling fourth from rear to lead 100m out and just held off Je Pens for a first win at his 13th start. He was suited by the drop in class but will need to lift on his past form in a higher grade. Je Pense closed off very well down the outside after travelling in the second half of the field to make it a bob of heads on the wire. He's a winner waiting to happen after two promising efforts following a downgrade. Best Tango was just out-finished after having to weave a run following a patient ride second from the rear as the late-plunged favourite. He had been running well in defeat in Class Four and will be winning at this level next campaign. Fortune Giggles was swamped late after leading 150m out following a handy run without cover from a wide gate. He's always a live chance at this level. Lucky Sebring stuck on better after stalking the leader Able Talent but couldn't save his career. Atomic Blast failed following a prominent run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (798) - MY CHOICE HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1800Meters

HALL OF FAME was withdrawn on 15.7.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter LUCKY SEBRING (Apprentice H N Wong).

Before being allowed to race again, HALL OF FAME will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

STORM KID was withdrawn from the race by order of the Stewards after that horse was fractious in the saddling area and was unable to be saddled.

PERFECT TIMING blundered badly on jumping, resulting in its rider, K Teetan becoming badly unbalanced and losing the use of his right stirrup iron for some distance.

In this incident, PERFECT TIMING lost a considerable amount of ground and then in the early and middle stages raced detached from the field.

A veterinary inspection of PERFECT TIMING immediately following the race found the horse to have sustained overreach wounds to both heels of its right front leg.

BEST TANGO and SWEET BEAN began only fairly.

Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, FORTUNE GIGGLES failed to muster speed and throughout the race travelled wide and without cover.

Approaching the 1400 Metres and again passing the 1300 Metres, BEST TANGO got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PROUD SKY.

Passing the 350 Metres, PROUD SKY race tight inside LIGHTNING AND GOLD which shifted in.

FLYING PROSPERITY was hampered in this incident.

BEST TANGO had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and passing the 300 Metres.

Close to the finishing line, JE PENSE shifted in and bumped PROUD SKY.

B Prebble (FORTUNE GIGGLES) was fined $5,000 for improper use of the whip in that he raised weal marks over the horse?�s right hindquarters.

After the race, J Moreira was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of LIGHTNING AND GOLD.

He said the horse travelled satisfactorily in the early and middle stages, however, after being placed under pressure in the Straight did not finish off the race.

A veterinary inspection of LIGHTNING AND GOLD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of HIGH SPEED METRO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BEST TANGO, PROUD SKY and JE PENSE were sent for sampling.

<17/7/2017 Additional Veterinary Report>HIGH SPEED METRO, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings.

HIGH SPEED METRO was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer L Ho this morning.

He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, HIGH SPEED METRO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
