Recap by phillip woo

All You Need peeled out rounding the final bend following a handy run and ran down Regency Darling 50m out for a first win at his third start. He's got more improvement to come and should hold his own up in grade off a light weight. Regency Darling grudgingly gave way after being hard ridden to lead to just hold Amazing Moment for second. He's a winner waiting to happen at this level. Amazing Moment had every chance following a box-seat run with the claim well utilised and came up one-paced over the last 100m. He'll likely get away with a race in the grade next season but is limited. Flying Noble came on well from behind midfield to spice up the Quartet in a vastly-improved effort at his fourth start. Hopefully, he can build on this run going forward. Newcomer Lucky Time closed off nicely near the inside after settling second last from a wide gate. He looks a nice one for next season and will appreciate a further trip. Smart Salute closed off well from the rear of the field. He can win early next season if he gets into Class Five. Favourite Multigogo was struggling 300m out after stalking the speed. He's over-rated but still has time on his side.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (773)-CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT HANDICAP (Sec1) - Class 4 - 1200Metres

FLYING NOBLE began only fairly.

From the outside barrier, SMART SALUTE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 950 Metres, MULTIGOGO shifted out and brushed LUCKY POWER.

Passing the 900 Metres, ALL YOU NEED was awkwardly placed inside the heels of MULTIGOGO.

After the 700 Metres, FLYING NOBLE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JOLLY GAINS.

Near the 650 Metres, FOXBAT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SOUTHERN EXPRESS.

Throughout the race, LUCKY POWER travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

OUR FOLKS lost its left front plate after the race.

When questioned, Z Purton stated that, from barrier 12, he had been asked to shift LUCKY TIME across behind runners in the early stages and then have the horse travel where it was comfortable.

He said after beginning satisfactorily, he steadied LUCKY TIME in accordance with his instructions and commenced to shift it across to obtain a position closer to the rail.

He said after shifting to the inside of GREAT TOPLIGHT approaching the 1000 Metres, he rode his mount along including slapping it down the shoulder with the whip in an endeavour to have it improve its position.

He said LUCKY TIME, which was racing for the first time, was reluctant to improve its position at this time and he had to continue niggling at the horse in an endeavour to encourage it to improve.

He said throughout the middle stages he continued to slap the horse down the shoulder in an attempt to make up ground to be racing closer behind GREAT TOPLIGHT.

He said when GREAT TOPLIGHT shifted out passing the 500 Metres, he immediately commenced to ride LUCKY TIME along to improve its position inside that horse.

He said however, due to its inexperience, LUCKY TIME was initially reluctant to improve its position, however, when GREAT TOPLIGHT shifted out further, LUCKY TIME appeared to gain more confidence and then commenced to finish off the race better.

He added he rode LUCKY TIME vigorously hands and heels in the early part of the Straight, however, the horse seemed reluctant to fully stretch out and it was not until near the 200 Metres that LUCKY TIME commenced to finish off the race with more purpose.

He added over the concluding stages, when closing off the race strongly, LUCKY TIME was unable to obtain clear running and consequently he was not able to ride the horse out to the end of the race due to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of AMAZING MOMENT.

After the race, B Prebble stated that FOREVER ACCURATE was not comfortable in its action over the latter stages of the race.

A veterinary inspection of FOREVER ACCURATE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of FOREVER ACCURATE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, FOREVER ACCURATE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

When questioned regarding the performance of MULTIGOGO, J Moreira stated that he had to ride his mount along hard in the early stages to obtain a forward position as instructed.

He said it was not until after the 900 Metres that he was able to improve his position sufficiently to cross ALL YOU NEED to his inside and race in a position one horse off the rail.

He said MULTIGOGO did not travel on the bit at any stage of the race and he had to niggle at the horse prior to the 600 Metres in an endeavour to have it maintain its position.

He said he rode MULTIGOGO vigorously rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, however, the horse did not respond to his riding and ran disappointingly.

A veterinary inspection of MULTIGOGO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of MULTIGOGO, which was favoured for today's race, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, MULTIGOGO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

MULTIGOGO, ALL YOU NEED and REGENCY DARLING were sent for sampling.
