Recap by phillip woo

Early favourite Clever Spirit just got up in the final few strides following a dream run to produce an overdue win with a step up to a mile after threatening in a good number of earlier runs. He can win another. Unique Happiest led as expected from gate one, cornered two lengths on top and was nipped on the wire as the late-fancied favourite. It was a good run in defeat after setting a swift pace and he'll be winning shortly in this grade. Happy And Healthy ran on steadily following a handy run along the fence to just get the bob down for third. He continues his consistent run over form over the mile at both tracks but might be near the top of his handicap. Megatron produced a better run travelling one-out, one-back. He's nothing special but does appear to act best over this Valley trip. Industrialist Way made some ground without menacing from midfield. The quick backup off a placing on the weekend and shorter trip played against him. Destin made some ground without ever looking a threat from near the back. He's likely one for next season and might want further the mile.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (725)-D'AGUILAR HANDICAP (Sec2) - Class 4 - 1650Metres

CLEVER SPIRIT began only fairly.

MEGATRON shifted in on jumping and bumped HAPPY AND HEALTHY.

From wide barriers, RUBY COAST and VARA PEARL were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, INDUSTRIALIST WAY was steadied when crowded for room between MEGATRON which shifted out marginally and MR KOOL which got its head on the side and lay in.

MEGATRON got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied passing the 1300 Metres.

Then approaching and passing the 1200 Metres, MEGATRON continued to travel keenly and again got its head up when awkwardly placed behind MR KOOL.

Passing the 800 Metres, HAPPY AND HEALTHY momentarily raced tight inside MEGATRON which got its head on the side and shifted in of its own accord despite the efforts of its rider.

After the race, B Prebble stated that MR KOOL, which weakened in the Straight, raced like a tired horse.

Mr W Y So, the trainer of MR KOOL, advised the Stewards that it was his intention to spell the horse following tonight's disappointing run.

A veterinary inspection of MR KOOL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

CLEVER SPIRIT and UNIQUE HAPPIEST were sent for sampling.
