It was a race run to suit the backmarkers. Favourite Convincible held off Archippus after quickening nicely following a one-off run travelling beyond midfield to hit the front 100m out for a second straight win. He appears to be a Valley specialist and can head higher. Archippus finished strongly down the outside after travelling at the rear following a slow break. He rarely runs a bad race sprinting on either surface or course. Mr Genuine rallied well after a patient ride third from the rear but found a couple too good in the end. He doesn't know how to run a bad race over this Valley trip. Victory Marvel reclaimed the front 400m out following a box-seat run and found a few too smart in the end. It wasn't a bad run after chasing a hot pace. Golden Harvest was short of room when trying to rally near the inside after travelling second from the rear. He's one to keep safe if he can work his way into Class Three. Dragon General wasn't properly tested when having to avoid a fallen rider close to home. Molly's Jade Star was in position to fill a placing following a midfield run but took a bad step and unseated his rider 10m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (714)-WONG NAI CHUNG GAP HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Metres

Whilst being saddled, MY LITTLE FRIEND became fractious, reared and hit its head.

Acting on veterinary advice that MY LITTLE FRIEND was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, MY LITTLE FRIEND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Shortly after the start, VERBINSKY shifted in abruptly when being ridden along and made contact with CONVINCIBLE, causing both horses to become unbalanced.

From the outside barrier, ARCHIPPUS was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

DALRADIAN travelled wide and without cover until the 600 Metres and subsequently weakened to finish tailed out.

The performance of DALRADIAN was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, DALRADIAN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the 600 Metres, VERBINSKY was left racing wide and without cover.

Rounding the Home Turn, ROMANTIC CASH was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DALRADIAN which was giving ground.

Also rounding the Home Turn, GOLDEN HARVEST raced tight inside DRAGON GENERAL.

Passing the 250 Metres, CONVINCIBLE shifted out away from the heels of VERBINSKY and bumped MR GENUINE, causing both horses to become unbalanced.

Near the 25 Metres, MOLLY??S JADE STAR went amiss, resulting in its rider, C Schofield, being dislodged.

DRAGON GENERAL, which was following MOLLY??S JADE STAR, was severely checked to avoid that horse.

ROMANTIC CASH and VERBINSKY, which were following DRAGON GENERAL, were checked away from the heels of that horse close to the finishing line.

In this incident, GOLDEN HARVEST, which was improving to the inside of MOLLY??S JADE STAR, was eased by its rider to avoid the fallen C Schofield and because of this was not ridden out to the end of the race.

CONVINCIBLE and ARCHIPPUS were sent for sampling.

Samples were also taken from MOLLY??S JADE STAR.

Races 4 to 8 were each put back 5 minutes.



2.

After the running of Race 2, the track classification was officially changed from "Good" to "Good to Firm".

This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.

As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 2 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm".

SUCH A HAPPINESS, EAGLE WAY, WERTHER, BLAZING SPEED, MAGIC LEGEND, LUCKY YEAR, D B PIN, PENANG HALL, GREEN CARD, SOUTHERN LEGEND, SHAMAL and FLYING TOURBILLON (28.5.17) proved negative.
