Recap by phillip woo

Salsa Brothers was nicely rated after finding the front 1,000m out and just held off the late surge of London City to land a betting plunge in clearly his best performance from 19 starts. The light weight worked on this occasion but will likely find it harder following a penalty. London City surged late following an effectively one-out, one-back run to make it close on the wire in a solid first run over this course after hitting top form in three prior starts following a stable change. He might have what it takes to add to two earlier wins. In a change of tactics, Sky Treasure stayed on gamely for third after being caught deep without cover for the most part near the speed from a wide gate. He's a winner waiting to happen. Favourite Planet Star was doing some good work late one from the right after a patient ride fourth from the rear. He'll certainly come on for this run following a foot injury in March. Starlight kept on evenly after a deep run without cover in midfield from gate 12. He can be forgiven for this run. Torney did make headway late from the rear of the field after a slow break. He had excuses and continues to head in the right direction.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (709)-MOUNT NICHOLSON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Metres

The start was delayed when ADMIRABLE lost its right front plate when parading behind the barriers.

ADMIRABLE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

TORNEY was slow to begin.

VITAL SPRING began awkwardly.

After this, VITAL SPRING was ridden along to obtain a forward position and passing the 1100 Metres got its head up and became unbalanced when being steadied to allow LONDON CITY to cross.

For some distance after this, VITAL SPRING continued to get its head up when racing ungenerously and awkwardly placed close to the heels of LONDON CITY.

Then near the 850 Metres, VITAL SPRING commenced to take charge of its rider and had to be severely checked away from the heels of LONDON CITY.

VITAL SPRING continued to travel fiercely for some distance after this.

From a wide barrier, MASSIVE POWER was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

When being steadied to obtain cover near the 1150 Metres, PLANET STAR was bumped by VITAL SPRING which shifted out.

MASSIVE POWER lost its left front plate approaching the 1000 Metres.

After the 900 Metres, PLANET STAR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of STARLIGHT.

At the entrance to the Straight, MASSIVE POWER was shifted in away from the heels of STARLIGHT.

Approaching the 200 Metres, SKY TREASURE got its head on the side and shifted in.

For the majority of the race, STARLIGHT travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of VITAL SPRING immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, VITAL SPRING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination..

PLANET STAR, SALSA BROTHERS and LONDON CITY were sent for sampling.
