Recap by phillip woo

Dragon Master just wore down Money Boy after settling ahead of midfield near the stand side to ring up a fourth win from nine starts over this course and distance. The return to the straight 1,000m was the key to his vastly improved run. Money Boy was up with the leaders, poked his head in front 300m out and found one just too good in the end to continue his consistent form bobbing in and out of Class Three and Four. He'll be winning shortly. Favourite Fortune Bo Bo grudgingly gave way after leading or sharing the lead in the centre of the course. His natural speed is always going to give him a fleeting chance over this Sha Tin trip. Ace King bounced well to chase the speed along the stand side but only held his ground over the final 100m. He's a specialist over this trip but likely needed the run following a break. Triumphant Jewel switched into the open on the far side 200m out after travelling worse than midfield and ran on steadily without menacing. He has been going close of late over this trip but likely needs a claimer's allowance off a light weight to clear the last hurdle.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine: (705)-THE KOWLOON CRICKET CLUB CENTENARY CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1000Metres

FORTUNE PATROL was slow to begin.

RACING MATE was crowded for room on jumping outside DRAGON MASTER which, after initially being taken out by ACE KING, then got its head on the side and shifted out away from that horse.

BEAUTY MASTER and TRAVEL DATUK bumped on jumping.

SUPER WISE was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

Approaching the 800 Metres, FORTUNE BO BO got its head on the side and shifted out away from KEEP MOVING and in doing so bumped MONEY BOY.

After this, FORTUNE BO BO continued to lay out, resulting in MONEY BOY racing in restricted room between FORTUNE BO BO and BEAUTY MASTER.

Passing the 300 Metres, FORTUNE BO BO was shifted in away from the heels of MONEY BOY as a result of both horses shifting ground.

Passing the 100 Metres, KEEP MOVING was awkwardly placed outside the heels of TRIUMPHANT JEWEL.

When questioned, S Clipperton (TRIUMPHANT JEWEL) stated that it had been intended, from the horse's outside barrier, to obtain a position behind the speed in about midfield if possible.

He said the race was run at a very quick tempo in the early stages which resulted in TRIUMPHANT JEWEL being further back in the field than has been intended.

He said in the early stages TRIUMPHANT JEWEL was unbalanced in its action and he formed the view that the horse may have been resenting the kickback.

He said for this reason whilst it had been intended for TRIUMPHANT JEWEL to maintain a position towards the outside rail, he felt that it was in the horse's best interests to shift in away from the kickback and therefore after the 600 Metres he directed TRIUMPHANT JEWEL in considerably and after finding clear running, TRIUMPHANT JEWEL then closed off the race well.

A veterinary inspection of SUPER WISE and KEEP MOVING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FORTUNE BO BO, DRAGON MASTER and MONEY BOY were sent for sampling.
