Racing Incident Report
Race Three: (699)-PIPER'S HILL HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400Metres
THUNDER DASH was withdrawn on 3.6.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter CATCHMEIFYOUCAN (C Williams).BRILLIANT MONKEYS was also withdrawn on 3.6.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter SHINING CHAMPION (H W Lai).
Before being allowed to race again, THUNDER DASH and BRILLIANT MONKEYS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
TELECOM BOOM was slow to begin.
YOURTHEWONFORME began awkwardly.
LE PEGASE began only fairly and then shortly after the start was bumped by SHINING CHAMPION.
HAPPY BEAUTY began only fairly and was then crowded for room between SHINING CHAMPION and POWER DRAGON which shifted in abruptly.
After this, SHINING CHAMPION was shifted across behind runners.
Despite being hard ridden in the early stages, SUPER SWEET ORANGE failed to muster speed.
Then for some distance approaching and passing the 1100 Metres, SUPER SWEET ORANGE got its head up when travelling keenly and awkwardly placed close to the heels of BORN TO RACE.
After the 1000 Metres, POWER DRAGON got its head up when steadied away from the heels of HURRICANE KID (S Clipperton) which shifted in when not properly clear.
S Clipperton was advised to ensure that he provides sufficient clearance prior to shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Near the 800 Metres, LE PEGASE was left racing wide and without cover.
Passing the 400 Metres, HAPPY BEAUTY was brushed by SUPER SWEET ORANGE which shifted out to improve into tight running between HAPPY BEAUTY and LE PEGASE.
BORN TO RACE (C Schofield) was held up for clear running from near the 250 Metres until after passing the 200 Metres.
After the race, C Schofield was unable to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of BORN TO RACE which he said raced "flat" today.
A veterinary inspection of BORN TO RACE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Passing the 200 Metres, CASH COURIER and SUPERNATURAL bumped.
A veterinary inspection of SUPER SWEET ORANGE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on POWER DRAGON at the request of Trainer C H Yip.
The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, POWER DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
SUPER SWEET ORANGE, REWARDING FLYER and YOURTHEWONFORME were sent for sampling.

Early favourite Rewarding Flyer was gifted an uncontested lead and kept going under Dylan Mo Hin-tung's important 10-pound claim for a second win this term after knocking on the door in three prior starts. He should remain competitive up in grade off a feather weight. Yourthewonforme had every chance in the box seat but wasn't good enough to reel in the winner. He keeps promising but has trouble delivering. Telecom Boom finished nicely for a placing after recovering from a slow break to settle midfield on the fence. He was suited by the postage stamp weight but does produce an odd good run at times. Le Pegase stayed on well after travelling fore of midfield without cover to get the bob down over Supernatural for a Quartet spot. He's shown some signs in a couple of his recent runs. Supernatural closed off nicely after travelling second from the rear. He might be near a bottom. Cash Courier needs at least a mile trip. Super Sweet Orange only got by a few from behind midfield as the post-time favourite. Born To Race wasn't going anywhere fast travelling midfield when held up briefly at the 200m.
