Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (696)-CLEAR WATER BAY HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Metres
ROYAL PERFORMER and BEAUTY LOVE bumped at the start.GOLDEN SUN was crowded for room on jumping between APOLLO??S CHOICE which was taken in by UNIQUE JOYOUS and OCULIST which was taken out by LUCKY DAY.
ENORMOUS HONOUR began only fairly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of DEJA VU which became unbalanced and shifted out onto PACKING GENIUS.
After this, ENORMOUS HONOUR was shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier.
The whip of M L Yeung (PACKING GENIUS) broke shortly after the start.
For some distance after the 1500 Metres, WHITE MAGIC got its head up when proving difficult to settle.
O Doleuze (ROYAL PERFORMER) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 650 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of LUCKY DAY, resulting in that horse being crowded for room, clipping the heels of ROYAL PERFORMER and blundering.
O Doleuze was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 14 June 2017 and to expire on Monday, 19 June 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In addition, O Doleuze was fined $10,000.
Approaching and passing the 400 Metres, APOLLO??S CHOICE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY DAY when endeavouring to improve to the outside of that horse.
Near the 150 Metres, WHITE MAGIC was shifted to the inside of RED MARVEL (J Moreira) after being awkwardly placed outside that horse which shifted out when being ridden along.
J Moreira was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes more effort than he did on this occasion to prevent his mounts from shifting ground.
Approaching the 100 Metre, OCULIST was momentarily steadied away from the heels of GOLDEN SUN (C Schofield) which shifted out to obtain clear running.
C Schofield was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Throughout the race, DEJA VU and PACKING GENIUS travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY LOVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ROYAL PERFORMER, RED MARVEL and GOLDEN SUN were sent for sampling.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Sha Tin Racemeeting on 28 May 2017 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of GREEN DISPATCH, LOTUS STRIKES BACK, ZERO HEDGE, LUNAR ZEPHYR, ELECTRIC LIGHTNING, HAPPY AND HEALTHY, SUNNY WAY, DUKEDOM, SIR REDALOT, MY DARLING, HANG??S DECISION, C P POWER.
SUCH A HAPPINESS, EAGLE WAY, WERTHER, BLAZING SPEED, MAGIC LEGEND, LUCKY YEAR, D B PIN, PENANG HALL, GREEN CARD, SHAMAL and FLYING TOURBILLON revealed no apparent abnormality.
2.
Racing Laboratory tests of JUMBO LUCK, STARSHIP, FORTUNE BROTHERS, GIDDY GIDDY, SNOWHOOVES, ENDEARING, RICHCITY FORTUNE, MORDICUS, GORGEOUS AGAIN, KING WINSA, REGENCY BO BO, CHUNG WAH SPIRIT, GRAND HARBOUR, CARE FREE PRINCE, INFINITY ENDEAVOUR, BORNTOACHIEVE, STAR OF YAN OI, PAKISTAN BABY, ARM RUNDA, FANTASTIC EIGHT, RATTAN, CHEERFUL BOY, SMILING CHARM, KEEN VENTURE and BOOMING DELIGHT (21.5.17) proved negative.

Red Marvel was hard pressed after leading from gate 10 and had enough left in the tank for an overdue win after placing in four of 11 other runs this term. He's always a chance on this surface. Golden Sun finished strongly after switching into the open 150m out following a patient ride second from the rear to grab second on the wire. He's got more points in hand on this surface and the light weight near the bottom of the class will certainly help. White Magic produced only a grinding effort following a box-seat run. He's on the right path now following two positive runs. Favourite Royal Performer ran on steadily after a handy run to just miss a placing. A step up to 1,800m might suit him. Deja Vu grudgingly gave way after pressing forward from a wide gate to eventually park outside the leader. He doesn't have many points in hand but doesn't know how to run a bad race on this surface. Apollo's Choice never ran on after travelling third from the rear despite a downgrade. He's beyond his better days.
