Recap by phillip woo
Werther went to the led 280m out holding the fence in third and drew clear to add a Group One over the 2,400m to his already impressive resume. He'll continue to be a force to be reckoned with over the 2,000m and 2,400m. Blazing Speed briefly hit the front 350m out after stalking the leader Basic Trilogy and just held off favourite Eagle Way by a whisker for second. He's beyond his better days but always seems to run his heart out. Eagle Way ran on steadily from near the back to finish a clear-cut third. It was good performance and he'll be a top stayer in the years to come. Helene Charisma made some ground after fading back to last coming to the final bend. He's crying out for a softer track. Gold Mount came up one-paced following a handy run following a sluggish break. He too might be a better prospect on a wet track. Basic Trilogy was a rabbit. Designs On Rome is ready for retirement.
