Bond Elegance edged clear after pinging straight to the front from gate one to add to an earlier win on the dirt from eight first-season runs. He might have a few points more in hand over this Valley course. Favourite Sky Treasure eventually got going to grab second after travelling fourth from the rear following a slow break. He's come right with a return to the Valley in his past two starts and will be winning shortly. Pearl Warm Warm ran on steadily near the inside to get the bob down for a placing following a midfield run. He's better over a mile distance. Enchanted Feeling grudgingly gave way after chasing the leader on the fence. He still needs to strengthen up and might be a better prospect next season. Thumped in betting, Winning Vibe ran on steadily to make it a blanket finish for the minors following a rail's run behind midfield. He continues to disappoint but looks capable of winning in Class Five if he gains a downgrade. Generous Bobo was running on well when the race was all but over after getting snagged back to last from a wide gate. He isn't far off a winning run on either surface but needs to draw properly.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (672)-KAM TIN RIVER HANDICAP (Sec2) - Class 4 - 1200Metres

Racing Steward Remark : Mr Philip N L Chen GBS JP acted for Mr Anthony W K Chow SBS JP as Chairman for Race 2 As the start was effected, SKY TREASURE put its head down and consequently was slow to begin.

SHARPMIND began awkwardly.

ENCHANTED FEELING was crowded for room on jumping between SECRET AGENT and WINNING VIBE which shifted out.

In this incident, ENCHANTED FEELING became unbalanced, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of SECRET AGENT which also became badly unbalanced and then shifted out away from that horse which caused FAIR COMMENT to be crowded for room.

From the outside barrier, GENEROUS BOBO was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

Approaching the 1000 Metres, CAREFREE LET GO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PEARL WARM WARM which was steadied to obtain cover behind SHARPMIND.

Near the 850 Metres, WINNING VIBE was momentarily crowded for room inside PEARL WARM WARM which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SHARPMIND.

Approaching the 600 Metres, FAIR COMMENT and CAREFREE LET GO raced tight.

Making the turn after the 600 Metres, WINNING VIBE lay out and in doing so made contact with the hindquarters of FAIR COMMENT which became unbalanced, shifted out and hampered CAREFREE LET GO.

For some distance after this, FAIR COMMENT got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHARPMIND.

Passing the 300 Metres, GENEROUS BOBO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SKY TREASURE.

After the 150 Metres, WINNING VIBE improved into tight running between PEARL WARM WARM and ENCHANTED FEELING.

WINNING VIBE then raced in restricted room between those horses until close to the finishing line at which stage the horse was crowded due to ENCHANTED FEELING shifting in marginally under pressure.

After the 150 Metres, GENEROUS BOBO had some difficulty obtaining clear running and then was held up for clear running for some distance passing the 100 Metres.

Consequently GENEROUS BOBO was not properly tested.

For the majority of the race, CAREFREE LET GO travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned, H W Lai stated that he had been asked to allow UNLEASHED DRAGON to use its natural speed in the early stages and obtain a position with cover where he was able.

He said UNLEASHED DRAGON began well, however, a number of horses which had drawn better barriers than his mount were hard ridden and for this reason he attempted to shift across behind those runners in the early stages to obtain cover.

He said as it took some time to obtain cover, initially behind SHARPMIND, this allowed FAIR COMMENT the opportunity to maintain its position inside UNLEASHED DRAGON and therefore he elected, after riding his mount along making the turn near the 1000 Metres, to steady UNLEASHED DRAGON to obtain a position closer to the rail.

Mr R Gibson, the trainer of UNLEASHED DRAGON, stated that it had been anticipated that the horse would be able to show more speed in the early stages than it did even with the blinkers removed.

He said it was now his intention to consider reapplying the blinkers to UNLEASHED DRAGON in an endeavour to have the horse show more early speed in its races.

Mr Gibson was advised that his evidence was noted.

A veterinary inspection of CAREFREE LET GO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BOND ELEGANCE and SKY TREASURE were sent for sampling.
