Chung Wah Spirit came on well after travelling ahead of midfield to grab victory 100m out at his fourth start with a key rise in trip with the blinkers applied. He's got more improvement to come and will be winning more races. Specked at a big price, Grand Harbour easily found the front from a wide gate and fought back when headed at the 250m to get the head down for second. The speed-biased track was in his favourite but he's always a tough cookie to cut down if he gets his own way up front. Odds-on favourite Regency Bo Bo recovered to sit fourth along the fence following a sluggish break and produced only a grinding effort to just grab third. He has been a model of consistency with placings in six of seven runs after two Class Four wins but might be in need of a rest. Right Call went to the lead 250m out after stalking the speed and grudgingly gave way over the last 100m. He might be on or near his mark after a win and second from three prior starts. Quick Return finished well following a midfield run in a pleasing debut performance. He appeared to need the run and he'll certainly come on for this effort. First Fontein ran on without menacing after travelling second from the rear.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (665)-THE 18 DISTRICTS CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1400Metres

REGENCY BO BO began awkwardly and was then bumped by CHUNG WAH SPIRIT which jumped in at the start.

From a wide barrier, FIRST FONTEIN was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

After travelling a short distance, HAIR TRIGGER, which was being ridden along to take up a more prominent position, had to be steadied away from the heels of ALCAZAR (O Doleuze) which shifted in when not properly clear.

SMART BABY, which was racing to the inside of HAIR TRIGGER, was steadied after becoming awkwardly placed near the heels of QUICK RETURN.

O Doleuze was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground.

SICHUAN BOSS was inclined to lay out under pressure in the Straight.

A veterinary inspection of FIRST FONTEIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

REGENCY BO BO, CHUNG WAH SPIRIT and GRAND HARBOUR were sent for sampling.
