Best Step was hard ridden to clear to the front 650m out from a wide gate, cornered just a length on top and kept finding to breakthrough after catching the eye in three other starts. He's a progressive sort who will have more good times ahead. Favourite Flying Monkey stayed on well after settling second in the run but was no match for the winner. It was good effort in his first run following lameness in November and he'll be hard to beat when he next reappears if he pulls up fine. Trendiful stayed on well with three wider out following a one-off run travelling fore of midfield to fill a placing. It was a positive performance on the back of a trial win on the dirt and he may be near a bottom. Bond Elegance ran on steadily near the inside from behind midfield to fill a Quartet spot in a pleasing effort with a return to the turf following some good dirt form. He's better suited over the 1,200m. Specked at big odds, Exponents made some ground without menacing after travelling fifth from the rear in a pleasing first run at the Valley but the postage stamp weight did help. Massive Millennium closed off all right down the outside after missing the kick. He has disappointing since a first-up win this term.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (620)-NIGHTJAR HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Metres

As the start was effected, JIMSON THE FAMOUS turned its head to the left and consequently lost a considerable amount of ground.

Before being allowed to race again, JIMSON THE FAMOUS will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

MASSIVE MILLENNIUM began awkwardly and lost ground and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of EXPONENTS which shifted out after bumping with FISH N' CHIPS.

EVER STRONG and LUNAR ZEPHYR bumped at the start.

Shortly after the start, TRENDIFUL shifted out and bumped BOND ELEGANCE.

Over the concluding stages, EVER STRONG was awkwardly placed outside the heels of EXPONENTS.

A veterinary inspection of FISH N' CHIPS and JIMSON THE FAMOUS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BEST STEP and FLYING MONKEY were sent for sampling.
