Recap by phillip woo

Massive Power came with a bold move two from the right after traveling three deep fourth from the rear to get up in the final few metres for a first win at his 20th start. He had solid form prior to his latest couple of runs and the gear change to blinkers did the trick. Favourite Idyllic Wind dashed to the front 150m out after easing back to settle midfield but found one better in the end. Old-timer might be good for a win before season's end. Bliss Cartel came no nicely widest out after travelling third from the rear following crowding at the start to be a clear-cut third. He just can't seem to salute despite placing in five of eight starts at 1,200m and the mile at both tracks. Don Wongchoy stayed on all right after chasing the speed but is better over a longer trip. All Together worked too hard from a wide gate to sit outside the leader Giddy Giddy 700m out. He can be forgiven for this run as can Seven Luck who had to slam on the brakes twice in the straight drive when trying to wind up travelling second from the rear. Haymaker wasn't fully tested for a good part of the straight after travelling at the tail of the field.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (619)-LYREBIRD HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Metres

CARRY TO WIN began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of DON WONGCHOY which became unbalanced.

BLISS CARTEL was crowded for room on jumping between MASSIVE POWER and WINNINGLI which shifted out.

After this, BLISS CARTEL got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of WINNINGLI.

HAYMAKER and SEVEN LUCK were crowded for room on jumping between NATURAL TEAM which shifted out and ALL TOGETHER which shifted in.

In this incident, ALL TOGETHER became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by SEVEN LUCK and then shifted in further, resulting in HAYMAKER being checked when further crowded for room and SEVEN LUCK being further hampered.

Near the 850 Metres, DON WONGCHOY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GIDDY GIDDY (O Doleuze) which shifted in when not quite clear.

O Doleuze was advised to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

At the entrance to the Straight, NATURAL TEAM shifted out and brushed MASSIVE POWER.

For some distance after the 300 Metres, DON WONGCHOY and ALL TOGETHER raced tight as DON WONGCHOY shifted out into clear running.

U Rispoli (MASSIVE POWER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that for some distance approaching the 200 Metres after permitting his mount to shift in under pressure, he failed to correct it in a timely manner, resulting in MASSIVE POWER shifting in onto CARRY TO WIN, causing that horse to be unnecessarily crowded for room and to be checked after losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

U Rispoli was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 21 May 2017 and to expire on Thursday, 25 May 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In addition, U Rispoli was fined $5,000.

M L Yeung (INTELLECTUAL GLIDE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SEVEN LUCK, causing that horse to be crowded for room and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

M L Yeung was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 24 May 2017 and to expire on Monday, 29 May 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In addition, M L Yeung was fined $22,500.

For some distance after the 150 Metres, INTELLECTUAL GLIDE was held up for clear running and approaching the 100 Metres shifted out away from the heels of DON WONGCHOY, resulting in HAYMAKER, which had also been held up for clear running, being hampered.

When questioned regarding the performance of WINNINGLI, C Y Ho stated that his mount did not show the anticipated early speed and after being crossed by DON WONGCHOY making the turn near the 1050 Metres, WINNINGLI came off the bridle and travelled only fairly.

He said although WINNINGLI was inconvenienced by CARRY TO WIN passing the 200 Metres, the horse was well beaten at this time and raced disappointingly.

A veterinary inspection of WINNINGLI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of GIDDY GIDDY and HAYMAKER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

MASSIVE POWER and IDYLLIC WIND were sent for sampling.
