Racing Incident Report
Race Six: (586)-KING'S PARK HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Metres
SWISS WARRIOR was withdrawn on 18.4.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore).Before being allowed to race again, SWISS WARRIOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
HAPPY COOPERATION began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped WAYFOONG VINNIE which was crowded for room outside CIRCUIT KING.
Despite being aggressively ridden along in the early stages, CIRCUIT KING was slow to muster speed.
From the outside barrier, PEARL WARM WARM was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
HAPPY COOPERATION lost its left front plate near the 950 Metres.
Near the 650 Metres, TRIUMPHANT JEWEL was taken wider by HAPPY COOPERATION which shifted out and consequently travelled wide and without cover.
Close to the finishing line, HAPPY COOPERATION improved to be racing close to the heels of TRAVEL COMFORTS (Apprentice H T Mo) and blundered passing the winning post.
Consequently HAPPY COOPERATION was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
As the Stewards were satisfied that at no stage had HAPPY COOPERATION improved to be racing outside the heels of TRAVEL COMFORTS, no further action was taken, however, Apprentice Mo was warned against the practice of allowing his mounts to shift ground under pressure.
TRIUMPHANT JEWEL lay out under pressure in the Straight and over the concluding stages raced tight between HAPPY COOPERATION and WAYFOONG VINNIE and consequently was not able to be properly tested.
After the race, B Prebble expressed concern about SMART DECLARATION??s action.
A veterinary inspection of SMART DECLARATION immediately following the race found the horse to be lame in its right front leg.
Before being allowed to race again, SMART DECLARATION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on TRAVEL COMFORTS at the request of Trainer A T Millard.
The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, TRAVEL COMFORTS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of SMART BOY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WAYFOONG VINNIE, TRAVEL COMFORTS and CIRCUIT KING were sent for sampling.

Travel Comforts had to work a bit harder to lead comfortably from Smart Declaration 700m out, straightened near three lengths on top and kept on gamely to make it two on the trot over this course and distance. His lightning gate speed is gold at the Valley and he might be able to get away with another in the right race. Circuit King came on well near the inside following a patient ride in midfield to finish a clear second. He looks like he can win in this grade following a last start success in Class Four. Favourite Wayfoong Vinnie finished well after travelling third from the rear to grab a placing. He's racing consistently well but appears to be crying out for an extra 200m. Happy Cooperation appeared to take a bad step on the wire but nonetheless kept on gamely following a box-seat run to just miss a placing in a pleasing first run this term following leg issues in June and July. If he pulls up fine, he might be able to get away with a race before season's end. Thumped late, Smart Boy was doing some nice work late after travelling second from the rear in his first run following a gate mishap in February. He's a winner waiting to happen if he can get a point drop into Class Four.
