Amazing Feeling just got up in the final few strides after travelling a confident second, two lengths off the uncontested leader Mr Kool, to score a long awaited win after placing in eight of 15 other starts. Expect him to remain competitive off a light weight in a higher grade. Mr Kool was hustled to lead from a wide gate and kept finding to make it a thriller on the wire. He's run well three times over this course from four starts following a gear change and should be able to add to a last-start win over this Valley trip. Favourite Great Joy was getting going late from midfield for a placing. He's a winner waiting to happen over the mile or 1,800m at either track. Never Better ran on steadily following a prominent run to edge out Soul Achiever for a spot in the Quartet. His consistency keeps him at the top of the weights in this grade which continues to anchor him on a win line. Soul Achiever had every chance chasing the leaders along the fence. He needs to drop lower in the handicaps. Like most in the race, Gentry didn't let down as expected travelling behind midfield after an eye-catching run last time out. He requires a stronger tempo.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (585)-TIN SAU HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Metres

WINASWEWISH lost ground when crowded for room on jumping between AMAZING FEELING and GREAT TREASURE which shifted in when being steadied to obtain cover from a wide barrier.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, GREAT TREASURE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JOLLY AMBER.

Passing the 1400 Metres, GREAT JOY got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SOUL ACHIEVER.

Then for some distance after the 1300 Metres, GREAT JOY continued to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of SOUL ACHIEVER.

S Clipperton (HALL OF FAME) pleaded not guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1300 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of GENTRY, resulting in that horse being checked when taken in onto the heels of GREAT JOY.

After having considered further submissions put by S Clipperton in answer to the charge, the Stewards did not believe in the circumstances that it was appropriate for the charge to be sustained.

In arriving at this decision, the Stewards found that HALL OF FAME, which had been racing ungenerously in the lead up to this incident, shifted in marginally and at the same time GREAT JOY, which was racing to the inside of GENTRY, was being steadied away from the heels of SOUL ACHIEVER.

As there were a number of circumstances associated with this incident, the Stewards believed that S Clipperton should be given the benefit of the doubt, however, he was reprimanded and told to ensure that he makes every endeavour to leave comfortable racing room for runners to his inside in similar circumstances.

After the 1300 Metres, HALL OF FAME improved into tight running between GREAT JOY and NEVER BETTER.

After the race, H W Lai (GREAT TREASURE) reported that his mount did not feel comfortable in its action.

A veterinary inspection of GREAT TREASURE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, GREAT TREASURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of WINASWEWISH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GREAT JOY, AMAZING FEELING and MR KOOL were sent for sampling.
