Well-fancied late, Fine With Me finished with a flurry when pulling out at the 200m travelling fourth from the rear to notch a maiden win at his 11th start. He did show some improvement last start over the mile but this was still a bit of a shocker with a step back to the 1,200m. Game Of Fun poked his head in front 150m out after stalking the speed and kept on gamely to get the bob down for second. He's yet to miss a Quinella spot in five straight Valley runs and should be able to hold his own off a light weight if he gets upgraded. Nash Rawiller had Silver Spun in a striking position in midfield right off the jump, they hit the front 100m out and found a couple too good in the end. He's not far off a winning run but the big weight is an anchor. Confucius Spirit ran on well down the outside after a patient ride third from the rear. He's close to a win. St Yazin came on nicely late but certainly was suited by the wet going. Favourite Contribution produced only a grinding effort following a prominent run. He might be crying out for a further trip over this course. Victor Emperor was held up until the 200m following a box-seat run but is better on a fast ground.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (566)-THE INDIAN RECREATION CLUB CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) (Sec2) - Class 4 - 1200Metres

SMART DELIGHT was withdrawn on 11.4.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter VICTOR EMPEROR (U Rispoli).

Before being allowed to race again, SMART DELIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

As the start was effected, BRIGHT STAR, which was fractious in the barriers, bounded in the air and then became badly unbalanced for a number of strides, resulting in the horse losing a significant amount of ground.

Before being allowed to race again, BRIGHT STAR will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.

ELITE EXPRESS shifted out at the start and bumped FINE WITH ME.

A short distance later, FINE WITH ME was steadied when crowded for room between ST YAZIN and ELITE EXPRESS which was taken out by CONTRIBUTION.

From wide barriers, CONFUCIUS SPIRIT and COUR VALANT were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

SILVER SPUN got its head on the side and lay out making the turn after the 1000 Metres.

VICTOR EMPEROR was badly held up for clear running from on straightening until near the 50 Metres and consequently was not able to be fully tested.

Passing the 150 Metres, FINE WITH ME shifted out and brushed ST YAZIN.

For the majority of the race, BUMBLE BABY travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of SALSA BROTHERS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

CONTRIBUTION, FINE WITH ME and GAME OF FUN were sent for sampling.
