Recap by phillip woo

Well-punted late, Orionids was nicely rated after finding the front from a wide gate and kept up a strong gallop for a nice win at his 10th start. He had put the writing on the wall in his past two starts and can remain competitive with a return to Class Three off a feather weight. Such A Happiness found the line very well to grab second 120m out after making his run behind midfield along the fence. He's caught the eye in his two starts and will be winning shortly_ 1,400m would be ideal. Starlight stayed on well for a placing after a deep run travelling fore of midfield without cover. He's near a bottom. Favourite Jumbo Luck pulled out rounding the final bend following a one-out, one-back run but didn't look right in his action 280m out and had to be eased down soon after the finish. There might have been issues. Raging Bull sat outside the leader and gave way over the last 100m. He's not genuine. Enchanted Feeling didn't disgrace but again only made a mild bid in the run to the wire despite a move to blinkers. He needs to strengthen up and is likely one for next season.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (537)-CASTLE PEAK BAY HANDICAP (Sec2) - Class 4 - 1200Metres

DAZZLE WINNER began only fairly and shortly after the start was checked when crowded for room between STARLIGHT and SUCH A HAPPINESS which was taken out by JUMBO LUCK.

GODSPEED began awkwardly and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded for room between JUMBO LUCK and RUGBY DIAMOND which shifted out abruptly.

In this incident, JUMBO LUCK became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by GODSPEED.

From wide barriers, MI BLANCO, GOLD VELVET and HIGH ENERGY were all steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

After the 1100 Metres, GOLD VELVET commenced to prove difficult to settle and shifted in abruptly near the 1050 Metres and bumped MI BLANCO which became unbalanced.

In the early stages, RAGING BULL got its head on the side and lay in.

Approaching the 1000 Metres, STARLIGHT became unbalanced after making contact with JUMBO LUCK as a result of those horses racing tight.

Passing the 250 Metres, ENCHANTED FEELING was shifted out away from JUMBO LUCK when that horse shifted out.

Throughout the race, STARLIGHT travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned, B Prebble stated that after enjoying a good run throughout the early and middle stages, he shifted JUMBO LUCK to the outside of RAGING BULL near the 500 Metres and the horse initially quickened well in the early part of the Straight.

He said however that passing the 300 Metres JUMBO LUCK became unbalanced in its action and then shifted out abruptly, resulting in him changing his whip into his left hand.

He said after this JUMBO LUCK continued to be unbalanced in its action and shifted ground on a number of occasions, however, as the horse was still in contention, he felt that he was obliged to continue to ride it out as he was not of the opinion that the horse had gone amiss.

He said however that the manner in which JUMBO LUCK shifted ground was of concern to him as the horse, which is well-known to him, had not previously performed in this manner.

A veterinary inspection of JUMBO LUCK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, JUMBO LUCK will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of CORRE RAPIDO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

JUMBO LUCK, ORIONIDS and SUCH A HAPPINESS were sent for sampling.
