Racing Incident Report
Race Four: (512)-MAN YIU HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800Metres
As the start was effected, NEWSWIRE FREE lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently was slow to begin.From the outside barrier, DUTCH WINDMILL was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, SUM WIN DRAGON was awkwardly placed inside the heels of EXPEDITE which shifted in before being directed back out to relieve the tightening.
EASTERN PROWESS was left racing wide and without cover passing the 1100 Metres.
For some distance after the 1000 Metres, SUM WIN DRAGON travelled keenly when racing close to the heels of GOBI STORM.
Passing the 900 Metres, SUPER FORM was awkwardly placed behind CASH COURIER.
Near the 450 Metres, SUPER FORM shifted out and brushed DUTCH WINDMILL.
Rounding the Home Turn, PO CHING TREASURE was shifted out away from the heels of EASTERN PROWESS.
Passing the 300 Metres, CASH COURIER was shifted to the inside of GOOD CHOICE after being disappointed for running between that horse and EXPEDITE.
When questioned, K C Leung (AUTUMN GOLD) stated that in the early part of the Straight AUTUMN GOLD commenced to finish off the race strongly and he felt that it was a chance of placing in the race.
He said however that passing the 50 Metres AUTUMN GOLD appeared to get its head down and lose its action and as he felt that there may have been something amiss with the horse, he eased it down over the concluding stages.
He added after the race whilst he could not detect any lameness issues with AUTUMN GOLD, the horse still felt uncomfortable in its action.
A veterinary inspection of AUTUMN GOLD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Before being allowed to race again, AUTUMN GOLD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
In this incident, CASH COURIER was shifted out away from the heels of AUTUMN GOLD and raced tight between that horse and CASA MASTER close to the finishing line.
When questioned, J Moreira stated that it had been intended for PO CHING TREASURE to be ridden in the lead if possible.
He said as the start was effected PO CHING TREASURE, which had been standing well in the barriers, did not begin well and because of this he felt that it would not be reasonable for him to attempt to obtain a forward position as he would have had to make too much use of PO CHING TREASURE.
He said therefore he elected to shift the horse across behind runners in the early stages and obtain a position with cover.
He said when the tempo of the race was not strong after the 700 Metres, he shifted PO CHING TREASURE out in an attempt to improve his position.
He said after initially making some progress, the pace of the race quickened near the 600 Metres and PO CHING TREASURE was then not able to sustain a forward move.
He added PO CHING TREASURE came under heavy pressure prior to the 400 Metres and despite being tested in the early part of the Straight weakened out of contention.
A veterinary inspection of PO CHING TREASURE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of PO CHING TREASURE, a favourite for tonight's race, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, PO CHING TREASURE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of DUTCH WINDMILL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
PO CHING TREASURE, GOOD CHOICE and SUM WIN DRAGON were sent for sampling.

Good Choice came on strongly after switching into the open 280m out following a patient trip four from the rear to assert his authority in deep stretch. He was well rated on an opening win this term over this course but is likely to be in the grasp of the handicapper when next stepping out. Sum Win Dragon dashed to the front 200m out following a prominent run and found one too smart in the end. He's been a bridesmaid in three of his four Valley outings this term and should go one better shortly. Super Form closed off well near the outside travelling behind midfield to fill a placing. He hasn't run a bad race in six Valley runs this term. Eastern Prowess defied a deep run without cover the entire trip travelling fore of midfield to give the exotics some value. He's shown sparks in his past two over this course from seven outings. He'll attract plenty of attention if he next steps out over the 1,800m or further down in Class Five. Autumn Gold loomed at least a place chance at the 200m following a midfield run but appeared to go amiss 50m out. Favourite Po Ching Treasure had a torrid run after jumping slowly from a wide gate and was gassed 250m out. He had excuses.
