Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (443)-TSUEN WAN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Metres
JADE FORTUNE and WAH MAY BABY bumped at the start.NITRO EXPRESS got its head up shortly after the start when being steadied to obtain a position with cover.
After being ridden along in the early stages, SUPER FLUKE was steadied approaching the winning post on the first occasion when racing wide and shifted across behind runners.
Approaching the 1300 Metres, VARA PEARL raced in restricted room between JADE FORTUNE and SUNNY WAY, both of which shifted ground.
For some distance after the 500 Metres, NITRO EXPRESS and VARA PEARL raced tight as NITRO EXPRESS shifted out away from the heels of HIGH AND MIGHTY.
CHEERFUL BOY lost its left hind plate after the 400 Metres.
Rounding the Home Turn, THUNDER STOMP (H W Lai) clipped the heels of CHEERFUL BOY, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
H W Lai was shown the video of this incident and told to ensure that he does not ride in such a manner so as to compromise the safety of riders and the welfare of horses.
Approaching the 50 Metres, VARA PEARL shifted in under pressure, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten his mount.
For the major part of the race, WAH MAY BABY travelled wide and without cover.
K C Leung was spoken to regarding his use of the whip on ASSOCIATION FANS after passing the 800 Metres.
A veterinary inspection of RIGHT CALL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
THUNDER STOMP and CHEERFUL BOY were sent for sampling.
GENERAL:
1.
Race 3 was put back 5 minutes and Races 4 - 8 were each put back 10 minutes.
2.
After the running of Race 2, the track classification was officially changed from "Good" to "Good to Firm".
This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.
As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 2 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm".

Additional Veterinary Reports from Sha Tin Racemeeting on 19 February 2017 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of A FAST ONE, JIMSON THE FAMOUS, HIGH FIVE, MOMENTUM LUCKY, SUPER TALENT, SILVERFIELD, PENNY LANE, ARIZONA BLIZZARD, MEGA RED, MOST BEAUTIFUL, RADIANT STEED, BEST EFFORT, ROCK THE TREE, BOOMING DELIGHT, HAPPILABABY, RAPPER DRAGON, PAKISTAN STAR, WHO DAT SINGA, LIMITLESS, KEEN VENTURE, NOTHINGILIKEMORE and REGENCY BO BO revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of ENREACHING, SURE PEACE, GORGEOUS AGAIN, TELEPHATIA, HAPPY HAPPY STAR, ART OF SUCCESS, VANILLA, RED MARVEL, SUPER WISE, MAGIC LEGEND, FORTUNE BO BO, GO BEAUTY GO, C P POWER, CALIFORNIA DISEGNO, CIRCUIT HASSLER, HOUSE OF FUN, LINE SEEKER, VOLITATION, MR POTENTIAL, DARING FIT and BEAT THE CLOCK (11.2.17) proved negative.

Thunder Stomp wore down Cheerful Boy for a first win at his 10th start after showing rare gate speed to sit in the box-seat. He has been threatening in earlier runs and has the tools to win another over the mile at either track. Favourite Cheerful Boy wouldn't go down without a fight after setting a genuine pace. He's a winner waiting to happen again after holding on for placings in three of his past four starts. Jade Fortune finished off soundly from behind midfield to make it close on the wire. The blinkers helped and he won't be far off a winning run. Vara Pearl made his usual late bid after travelling fourth from the rear. He doesn't have many points in hand. Nitro Express was another doing his best work late when the race was all but over following a patient ride near the back. The rise in weight was too much of a burden following back-to-back wins. Thumped late in betting, Right Call did only fold in the last 150m after working hard to press the speed without cover.
