Recap by phillip woo

Slow into stride, Pakistan Baby sustained his run after being stoked up 600m out following a deep run beyond midfield to take control 180m out for a third win from 25 starts. He was in the right grade and relished the softer ground conditions. Never Better came on nicely after settling on the back of the eventual winner in the run. He doesn't know how to run a bad race over this Valley trip but does have trouble winning. Ray Of Gold was closing the gap with every stride after travelling second from the rear to continue his honest form without winning. His consistency keeps him hovering around his current mark but he would be hard to beat in a Class Five. Showing Character peaked on his run 100m out after making a bid from near the back following a tardy break from an outside draw. It wasn't a bad effort back in the grade following back-to-back Class Five wins. Nashashuk stayed on better from just worse than midfield despite being held up from the 200m to 150m to pick up a minor cheque at his fifth start. He's naturally coming to hand and might be crying out for a 1,400m trip. Winning Controller closed off better at only his third outing and first at the Valley. Favourite Cheer Win never did gain a run following a prominent run along the fence.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (441)-THE ROTARY CENTENARY CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) (Sec1) - Class 4 - 1200Metres

BUDDY BUNDY shifted out on jumping and bumped PAKISTAN BABY.

A short distance after the start, PAKISTAN BABY was again bumped by BUDDY BUNDY which became unbalanced and shifted out after also being bumped by GRACE HEART.

After this incident, PAKISTAN BABY was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

From the outside barriers, SHOWING CHARACTER and GOOD MATE were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

Passing the 1100 Metres, BUDDY BUNDY was awkwardly placed outside the heels of GRACE HEART.

Near the 1050 Metres, CHEER WIN got its head up and lay out towards the heels of BUMBLE BABY when proving very difficult to settle, resulting in CHEER WIN being checked and losing ground.

BUDDY BUNDY travelled wide and without cover in the early stages and after the 900 Metres was allowed to improve into the lead.

After the 800 Metres, PAKISTAN BABY was left racing wide and without cover.

Making the turn after the 600 Metres, BUMBLE BABY got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of FOREVER FUN, resulting in BUMBLE BABY becoming unbalanced and losing ground.

Approaching the 400 Metres, CHEER WIN was awkwardly placed behind BUMBLE BABY which continued to race with its head on the side and lay out.

WINNING CONTROLLER was held up and unable to improve rounding the Home Turn.

Approaching the 200 Metres, CHEER WIN got its head on the side and lay in towards the heels of GRACE HEART, resulting in its rider, Z Purton, having to stop riding.

CHEER WIN was then steadied when unable to maintain its position between GRACE HEART which shifted out marginally and NASHASHUK which was racing tight to the inside of NEVER BETTER.

After this, CHEER WIN was held up for clear running and consequently was not able to be properly tested.

Passing the 200 Metres, NASHASHUK was steadied away from the heels of NEVER BETTER (S Clipperton) which shifted in.

In this incident, FOREVER FUN, which was racing to the inside of NASHASHUK, also shifted out marginally.

S Clipperton was advised to ensure that he makes every effort to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances.

When NASHASHUK was steadied, WINNING CONTROLLER, which was following, was hampered in consequence.

For some distance after the 200 Metres, BUMBLE BABY was held up for clear running behind BUDDY BUNDY which was giving ground.

Near the 150 Metres, GRACE HEART was awkwardly placed inside the heels of FOREVER FUN which shifted in.

A veterinary inspection of CHEER WIN and BUMBLE BABY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

CHEER WIN, PAKISTAN BABY and NEVER BETTER were sent for sampling.
