Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Gorgeous Again came on steadily after travelling three deep ahead of midfield to take control 200m out for a maiden win at his 10th start. He can win another if he remains in the grade but may still need more education to make the grade in Class Four. Telephatia was a fleeting chance following a midfield run at the 200m but found one too good in the end. It was just another honest Class Five performance by the seven-year-old. Faithful Boy went too fast despite an uncontested lead three lengths on top and was on his tippy toes 100m out. It was good run in defeat but the 10-pound allowance certainly helped. Dragon Glory had every chance following a box-seat run. He hasn't been running too badly on the turf this season. Gentlemen got run off his feet travelling beyond midfield but did make some ground late. He's improving with racing. Fortune Giggles was making good ground late from the back of the field when the race was all but over in an improved run following a downgrade. My Folks dipped badly and unseated his rider at the start, while Lighting And Gold played up and didn't want to take part.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (409)-FU TAI HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1800Metres

CHOICE EXCHEQUER was withdrawn on 10.2.17 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter TELEPHATIA (Z Purton).

Before being allowed to race again, CHOICE EXCHEQUER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

LIGHTNING AND GOLD was very slow to begin and then for some distance in the early stages refused to race.

LIGHTNING AND GOLD then tailed out and raced detached from the field.

A veterinary inspection of LIGHTNING AND GOLD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The barrier and racing manners of LIGHTNING AND GOLD were considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, LIGHTNING AND GOLD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

On jumping, MY FOLKS stumbled badly, resulting in its rider, D Whyte, being dislodged.

After this incident, D Whyte was examined by the Club??s medical officers and passed fit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements.

When questioned, Apprentice H T Mo (FAITHFUL BOY) stated that after having to ride his mount along with the whip for some distance in the early stages to muster sufficient speed to cross runners to his inside, he was able to shift FAITHFUL BOY in to race on the rail and in the lead passing the 1600 Metres.

He said after obtaining the lead he immediately attempted to steady the tempo on FAITHFUL BOY, however, the horse commenced to prove very difficult to settle and travelled keenly.

He said approaching the 1500 Metres as he was continuing to restrain FAITHFUL BOY, his saddle shifted forward which placed him at a significant disadvantage which made it more difficult for him to restrain FAITHFUL BOY.

He added, despite his efforts, FAITHFUL BOY continued to travel very keenly in the early and middle stages and would not settle and because of this the tempo that he set on FAITHFUL BOY was much faster than he had wished.

A veterinary inspection of WEALTHY FORTUNE and MY FOLKS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GORGEOUS AGAIN and TELEPHATIA were sent for sampling.
