In a thriller, early favourite Enreaching out-duelled late-fancied favourite Sure Peace over the final 150m after assuming the front at the 250m following a pace-stalking run to open his win account at start nine. He had put the writing on the wall in two of three prior starts and do expect him to be competitive off a lightweight up in class. Sure Peace made steady progress after being posted four deep with cover behind midfield to make it a lip in the end and a clear-cut second. He's back on track and will be winning short on this surface. Emperor Victory gave a good sight on the speed after working hard to clear for the lead passing the 1,300m in a pleasing dirt debut. The featherweight certainly helped but it opens up options for connections. Travel Ambassador came on nicely very wide out from the rear of the field in a blanket finish for fourth. It builds on some good mile form recently at the Valley but he may be crying out for 1,800m. Thumped late, London City grudgingly gave way following a prominent run along the fence. He's a winner waiting to happen in Class Five. Another dirt debutant Unique Joyous ran on well after a deep run behind midfield in his best run of the term and may be near a bottom.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (408)-BUTTERFLY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Metres

EXPEDITE and TRAVEL AMBASSADOR were crowded for room on jumping between SUM WIN DRAGON and INVISIBLE, both of which shifted ground.

After this, EXPEDITE and TRAVEL AMBASSADOR were shifted across behind runners.

EQUITY DOCTRINE shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of ENREACHING which became unbalanced.

THE SHOW began awkwardly.

From wide barriers, SURE PEACE and IMPERIAL CONCORDE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After momentarily shifting into a one-off position passing the 1200 Metres, LONDON CITY was hampered passing the 1100 Metres when crowded for room between EMPEROR VICTORY and ENREACHING (N Callan) which shifted in.

N Callan was advised that whilst LONDON CITY had only just shifted out into a one-off position, he nonetheless must exercise more care in similar circumstances.

For some distance after the 1200 Metres, SUM WIN DRAGON got its head up on a number of occasions when travelling keenly.

DIAMOND FRIENDS, which was following SUM WIN DRAGON, shifted out away from the heels of that horse passing the 1000 Metres.

After this, DIAMOND FRIENDS was left racing wide and without cover.

For some distance approaching and passing the 900 Metres, THE SHOW became unbalanced when crowded for room inside WINNING BOY which, after being bumped by UNIQUE JOYOUS which was taken in by SURE PEACE (J Moreira), then proved very difficult to settle and improved to be racing inside the heels of INVISIBLE where there was insufficient room.

Whilst there were some circumstances to this incident, J Moreira was nonetheless severely reprimanded and advised that it was his movement inwards on SURE PEACE that commenced the tightening to runners on his inside.

He was further advised to ensure that at all times he leaves comfortable racing room for runners on his inside.

Approaching the 500 Metres, SUM WIN DRAGON and SURE PEACE raced tight as SURE PEACE improved around SUM WIN DRAGON.

In the Straight, SURE PEACE lay out under pressure and near the 150 Metres the whip of J Moreira was knocked from his grasp by the whip of N Callan.

Approaching the 100 Metres, EXPEDITE got its head up when momentarily crowded for room between INVISIBLE and UNIQUE JOYOUS which both shifted ground.

INVISIBLE and UNIQUE JOYOUS were both corrected by their riders shortly after this.

After the race, S de Sousa dismounted from IMPERIAL CONCORDE.

The Veterinary Officer subsequently reported that IMPERIAL CONCORDE had bled from both nostrils.

A veterinary inspection of EXPEDITE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

A veterinary inspection of SUM WIN DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ENREACHING and SURE PEACE were sent for sampling.
