Punted late, Flying Godspell was nicely rated after clearing to the lead and kept on willingly for the win after putting the writing on the wall two back. His natural speed is always an asset on this surface and he should remain competitive in the top of the grade with a claimer on board. Favourite Respect chased the speed one off and kept grinding away to finish level with Happy Journey for second. He's as honest as the day is long sprinting on this surface. Happy Journey came on strongly after travelling second from the rear. He's caught the eye in back-to-back sprints on this surface and will be winning shortly if he remains in the class. The step back up to a mile may be what he wants. Salsa Brothers held the fence behind the leader and kept plugging away to hold down a Quartet spot. He has turned the corner in his past handful of runs and won't be far off a winning run over the 1,200m to a mile on this surface or possibly at the Valley. Bolshoi Ballet did have to cover a bit of ground travelling fore of midfield and only held his ground in the run to the wire. He had excuses. Diamond Mysterious was disappointing when asked for an effort following a midfield run despite staying on well for fourths in two prior Valley runs. On this performance, a return to the Valley is the only option.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (392)-DAFFODIL HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Metres

HELLO KIMBERLEY began awkwardly and then, despite being ridden along in the early stages, failed to muster speed.

From the outside barrier, GOLDEN CHOPSTICKS was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the 900 Metres, GOBI STORM got its head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of SLEDGE HAMMER which was taken in by BOLSHOI BALLET (Z Purton).

Z Purton was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Passing the 800 Metres, SLEDGE HAMMER lost its left front plate.

Making the first turn after the 700 Metres, BOLSHOI BALLET got its head on the side and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of RESPECT.

BOLSHOI BALLET then lay out making the Home Turn.

Also making the first turn after the 700 Metres, GOBI STORM lay out when racing greenly.

After the 700 Metres, SLEDGE HAMMER was left racing wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.

A veterinary inspection of SLEDGE HAMMER immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, SLEDGE HAMMER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Passing the 300 Metres, SALSA BROTHERS raced tight inside HEARTS KEEPER.

For the majority of the race, HEARTS KEEPER travelled wide and without cover.

FLYING GODSPELL, HAPPY JOURNEY and RESPECT were sent for sampling.
