Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (351)-VICTORIA PARK HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Metres
After being advised by Trainer P O'Sullivan that WHO ELSE BUT YOU had sustained a quarter crack to the right front hoof, that horse was examined in the stables by the Veterinary Officer who subsequently reported that the horse was not suitable to race and accordingly was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.Before being allowed to race again, WHO ELSE BUT YOU will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
GOLDEN SUN and PROUD SKY were badly crowded for room on jumping between HAPPY METEOR and DRAGON MASTER which shifted out abruptly.
DRAGON MASTER then continued to shift out and was checked away from the heels of HAPPY METEOR.
This resulted in DRAGON MASTER, PROUD SKY and GOLDEN SUN all losing ground.
After this, GOLDEN SUN was ridden along to make up lost ground, however, failed to muster speed.
Despite being hard ridden in the early and middle stages, FIGHT HERO failed to muster speed.
DRAGON MASTER lost its left front plate passing the 800 Metres.
Throughout the race, WONDERFUL JOURNEY travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN SUN immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg.
Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN SUN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
CALIFORNIA WHIP and LOVE SHOCK were sent for sampling.

Racing Laboratory tests of GORGEOUS AGAIN, BEST EFFORT, CASH COURIER, MR POTENTIAL, EVEREST, BAD BOY, AMAZING KIDS, NOT LISTENIN'TOME, FLYING GODSPELL, HEARTS KEEPER, PEACE COMBINATION, BLAZING PASS, ASHKIYR, LITTLE FANTASY, CARE FREE PRINCE, BIG BANG BONG, TANG FLEMING, GENEROUS HEART, FIVE UP HIGH, MONEY BOY, ROUNDABOUT, BEAUTY KINGDOM, STAR OF YAN OI, SKY HERO, HARBOUR ALERT, BEAUTY GENERATION and CALIFORNIA DISEGNO (8.1.17) proved negative.

Early favourite California Whip responded very well when asked for an effort after stalking the speed to win going away 180m out in an overdue win with a switch to the dirt after placings against quality rivals twice on the turf. He's destined for a triple-figure rating and his best will come over longer trips. Late-fancied favourite Love Shock finished well to grab second after pulling out rounding the final bend after a midfield run from a wide gate in his first go on the surface. He remains one to follow on either surface. Fight Hero closed off strongly along the fence after a patient ride beyond midfield to grab a placing in the final few strides. It was a good effort first-up off a long break and he won't be far off a win on this surface. Wonderful Journey couldn't match a couple for speed but still stayed on well to just miss a placing in his first run on the dirt. He's clearly better at the Valley. Happy Meteor was swamped late after setting a good pace up front in his best run of the campaign but he doesn't have much upside off his current mark.
