Recap by phillip woo
In a blanket finish of four, the late plunged Eroico came on strongly from midfield to get the bob in for a second straight dirt success despite a step back in distance. He's at his mark on the turf and is running out of options on this surface. Another well-backed runner, Almababy just staved off Dundonnell for second carrying a featherweight after a box-seat run. The Valley and the dirt will continue to pay his feed bills. Dundonnell wasn't flash into stride but was coming on strongly late down the outside to make it close on the wire. Off his current mark, he's finding it tough on the turf and the dirt options are at a minimum. First-up off a long break, Fabulous One wouldn't go down without a fight after being hustled to lead 900m out. If he pulls up fine, he could get away with a Group Three race off a lightweight on the turf in the not too distant future. Happy Surveys finished well after a patient ride to finish just out of the placings. He's an honest sprinter but doesn't have many points in hand. Wah May Friend had his chance but wasn't up to the task.
