Favourite Beauty Generation kept grinding away after hitting the front from midfield at the 150m to just get the better of California Disegno to open his win account at start number two. He'll certainly come on for this run and looks a leading chance for the Derby in March. California Disegno wouldn't go down without a fight despite doing it tough on the lead outside Top Act. He's shown life signs in his past few runs and should be saluting shortly over the 1,600m or 1,800m. Western Express made up heaps of ground after travelling second from the rear following an erratic start to make it a close third. He's got more than a few points in hand and appears one that will get even further in time. Winner's Way kept on well to just miss a placing after being posted three deep without cover tracking the speed. It was another terrific run despite a rise in class and distance.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten: (325)-VIOLET HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1600Metres

WESTERN EXPRESS lifted its front feet of the ground as the start was effected and was slow to begin.

RODRICO began very awkwardly, resulting in its rider, S Clipperton, becoming unbalanced.

BEAUTY GENERATION lost its left hind plate in the early stages.

Approaching the 1400 Metres, BEAUTY GENERATION proved difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of SIMPLY INVINCIBLE.

Z Purton (BEAUTY GENERATION) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 900 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SERGEANT TITANIUM, resulting in that horse being taken in onto HAPPY PLACE, causing that horse to be unnecessarily crowded for room and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

Z Purton was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Saturday, 14 January 2017 and to expire on Thursday, 19 January 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Z Purton's good race riding record.

At the entrance to the Straight, TONYBOY was shifted out away from the heels of HAPPY PLACE which shifted to the outside of SERGEANT TITANIUM.

HAPPY PLACE then had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 400 Metres.

Near the 350 Metres, TONYBOY was bumped by DUKEDOM which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of WESTERN EXPRESS.

MIGHTY MAVERICK was held up for clear running until passing the 300 Metres.

After being awkwardly placed inside the heels of WINNER'S WAY for some distance after the 300 Metres, SIMPLY INVINCIBLE was directed to the outside of that horse near the 200 Metres to obtain clear running.

Throughout the race, WINNER'S WAY travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, it was reported that BEAUTY GENERATION had sustained a wound to the outside of the left hind heel bulb.

A veterinary inspection of RODRICO and HAPPY PLACE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BEAUTY GENERATION and CALIFORNIA DISEGNO were sent for sampling.

Additional Veterinary Report from Sha Tin Racemeeting on 1 January 2017 The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that PRECIOUS GEM had sustained an injury to the right front tendon after racing.

Before being allowed to race again, PRECIOUS GEM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
