Recap by phillip woo

Travel First got up 120m out for an upset win after sitting outside the leader Red Marvel from a wide gate. He had put the writing on the wall last time out but is likely to find things harder following this win. Red Marvel was gifted an uncontested lead after going forward from a wide gate and wouldn't go down without a fight. He's running well and will be winning shortly. Favourite Magical Beauty had every chance following a box-seat run. It was a pleasing effort in his initial run on the surface but the weight did anchor him. Connections might consider a claimer's allowance next time out. Goodheart Success stayed on well carrying top weight to just miss a placing in an encouraging first run for his new trainer following a tendon injury in August. He'll come on for this run but is a better prospect at the Valley. Turin Pearl had his chance after a one-out, one-back run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten: (295)-PAK TAM CHUNG HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Metres

MAJESTIC ANTHEM shifted out at the start, resulting in ULTIMATE GLORY being taken out onto LITTERATEUR which was crowded for room inside BEAUTY PRINCE.

DEJA VU began only fairly and then despite being ridden along failed to muster speed.

Shortly after the start, ELECTRONIC PHOENIX was checked when crowded for room between RED MARVEL which shifted in and KING OF MONGOLIA which began awkwardly, stumbled and then was taken out by SUPER MAN.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, GOODHEART SUCCESS and LITTLE DRAGON were badly crowded for room inside ULTIMATE GLORY which was taken in by SUPER MAN (B Prebble) which, after initially shifting in with RED MARVEL to its outside, then got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly.

MAJESTIC ANTHEM and DEJA VU, which were following, were inconvenienced in consequence.

As the Stewards were satisfied that B Prebble had made appropriate endeavours to prevent SUPER MAN from shifting in prior to that horse getting into the running of ULTIMATE GLORY, no further action was taken, however, he was warned against the practice of shifting in too abruptly which then can make it difficult for horses to respond in a timely manner.

Passing the 1300 Metres, ELECTRONIC PHOENIX was steadied away from the heels of BEAUTY PRINCE.

After this, ELECTRONIC PHOENIX got its head up on a number of occasions when proving difficult to settle.

Approaching the 1000 Metres, SUPER MAN commenced to travel keenly and shifted out when awkwardly placed behind TURIN PEARL.

After this, SUPER MAN travelled wide and without cover.

In the early part of the Straight, BEAUTY PRINCE got its head on the side and lay in.

Passing the 250 Metres, LITTLE DRAGON was steadied when disappointed for running between SUPER MAN and BEAUTY PRINCE which shifted out.

LITTLE DRAGON was then unable to obtain clear running until passing the 200 Metres.

Passing the 200 Metres, O Doleuze (GOODHEART SUCCESS) dropped his whip.

Close to the finishing line, LITTLE DRAGON was shifted out away from the heels of ULTIMATE GLORY.

When questioned, S de Sousa stated that after the 600 Metres he attempted to shift out on ELECTRONIC PHOENIX to make his run on the outside of horses.

He said at this time he was racing to the inside of the heels of LITTLE DRAGON and he felt that he would have had to steady ELECTRONIC PHOENIX to come to the outside of that horse which would have had the effect of breaking ELECTRONIC PHOENIX's momentum.

He said he therefore decided to ride his mount along to take advantage of a run to the inside of LITTLE DRAGON and outside DEJA VU.

He said however that at that time BEAUTY PRINCE, which was racing in advance of ELECTRONIC PHOENIX, did not improve into the race as he had hoped and he was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.

He added he then attempted to improve between DEJA VU and BEAUTY PRINCE approaching the 250 Metres, however, had to be steadied when disappointed for running between those horses which both shifted ground.

He said ELECTRONIC PHOENIX was then held up for clear running until near the 150 Metres.

A veterinary inspection of ELECTRONIC PHOENIX immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, O Murphy reported that MAJESTIC ANTHEM was making an abnormal respiratory noise.

A subsequent veterinary inspection of MAJESTIC ANTHEM did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection of BEAUTY PRINCE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, BEAUTY PRINCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

MAGICAL BEAUTY, TRAVEL FIRST and RED MARVEL were sent for sampling.
