Recap by phillip woo

Master Gold continued his solid form on the dirt when overcome a deep run on the speed from a wide gate to take control 150m out. He should hold his own off a lightweight up in grade on this surface. Favourite Flying Machine finished willingly from midfield to grab second in the final few metres in a solid run despite a return to Class Four. He remains on to following on this surface or over the mile at the Valley. Expedite eased back to make his run behind midfield before rolling late to nip rank outsider Salsa Brothers for a placing. He can win shortly over this course and distance if he remains in the grade. Salsa Brothers wouldn't go down without a fight after setting moderate fractions in a vastly-improved effort at his 10th start. He'll need to prove this run was no fluke. Plunged late Consistent grudgingly gave way over the final 150m after stalking the speed from a wide gate. It was a positive performance despite a return to Class Four. Gold Dragon made some ground from just worse than midfield but is crying out for the 1,800m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (235)-HANKOW HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Metres

LUCKY SEVEN STARS began awkwardly and was slow to begin.

MR POTENTIAL began only fairly.

Shortly after the start, GOLD DRAGON was momentarily crowded for room between LANSBURY and MASTER GOLD.

A short distance after this, from wide barriers, LANSBURY and GOLD DRAGON were steadied and shifted across behind runners.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, LUCKY SEVEN STARS became unbalanced when crowded for room inside EXPEDITE which, despite the efforts of its rider, got its head on the side and shifted in marginally.

Also making the first turn after passing the winning post on the first occasion, WEALTHY FORTUNE was bumped by SURE PEACE which was racing tight inside IMPERIAL CONCORDE which got its head on the side and shifted in away from MR POTENTIAL.

After the 1400 Metres, LANSBURY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SURE PEACE which got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of EXPEDITE.

Throughout the race, MASTER GOLD travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned, N Rawiller stated that after wanting to lay in during the early part of the race, EXPEDITE commenced to race ungenerously and hang out approaching the 1200 Metres.

He said he consequently changed the whip over to the left hand to straighten the horse and after this EXPEDITE raced more tractably.

MASTER GOLD and FLYING MACHINE were sent for sampling.
