Recap by phillip woo

Thumped late in betting Perpetual Joyance took control 200m out after stalking the leader and drew clear for a first win at his seventh start and first on the surface. The dirt is clearly his meal ticket but he'll be near the top of the handicaps in this grade off a big weight next time out and be risky at short odds. Hastily Feet came on well from the rear of the field after a sluggish break to snatch second in a blanket finish for the minors. He's overdue after knocking on the door on both surfaces in his four starts this term. The ageing Hearts Keeper kept on reasonably well after tracking the speed one off from a tricky gate to just snare third. The rise in weight for a last start win took its toll when asked for an effort and connections should contemplate a claimer for his next run on this surface. Favourite Hurricane Kid was held up early straight behind the tiring leader but did have every chance over the final 200m following a box-seat run. He's nothing special. Generous Bobo had excuses after a torrid run. Plunged late Fine Rock doesn't like this surface. Favourite Respect was a late scratching.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (216)-CHEVALIER ENTERPRISE NETWORK SOLUTIONS HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Metres

The Veterinary Officer advised that on arrival at the barriers RESPECT was found to have a significant amount of mucopus at both nostrils.

Acting on the advice from the Veterinary Officer that RESPECT was not suitable to race, that horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, RESPECT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

DON WONGCHOY was slow to begin.

HASTILY FEET began only fairly.

CONFUCIUS SPIRIT and FINE ROCK bumped at the start.

Shortly after the start, GENEROUS BOBO was brushed by PERPETUAL JOYANCE which shifted out.

Near the 900 Metres, HASTILY FEET was steadied away from the heels of FURIOUS PEGASUS which shifted out away from FINE ROCK after being bumped by that horse.

Passing the 900 Metres, SUPER EURO STAR raced tight inside HEARTS KEEPER (S Clipperton) which shifted in.

S Clipperton was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

Near the 800 Metres, FINE ROCK shifted out marginally and bumped FURIOUS PEGASUS which became unbalanced and in turn shifted out, causing SUPER EURO STAR to be crowded for room inside GENEROUS BOBO.

Passing the 400 Metres, HURRICANE KID and PERPETUAL JOYANCE raced tight.

For a short distance after this, HURRICANE KID was awkwardly placed behind PROMPT EXPRESS.

Throughout the race, GENEROUS BOBO travelled wide and without cover.

Z Purton stated that when under pressure in the early part of the Straight FINE ROCK, which had lost its right front plate near the 1100 Metres, commenced to lay out.

He said as FINE ROCK was well beaten at this time, he did not continue to ride the horse out over the final 100 Metres.

Z Purton was advised that, wherever circumstances, permit, to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race.

A veterinary inspection of FINE ROCK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

HURRICANE KID, PERPETUAL JOYANCE and HASTILY FEET were sent for sampling.
