Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (198)-MUI WO HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Metres
DESMIOS was slow to begin.GREEN CARD began awkwardly.
Shortly after the start, THE SHOW shifted out and bumped CONVINCIBLE.
From wide barriers, CAPE THE FAITH and GOLDEN SLEEP were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
For some distance passing the 1300 Metres, CAPE THE FAITH got its head up when proving difficult to settle.
CAPE THE FAITH then continued to prove difficult to settle for some distance and passing the 800 Metres got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of WINNER'S WAY.
Near the 800 Metres, DRAGON DANCE was left racing wide and without cover and subsequently finished tailed out.
As this was the second occasion from two race starts in Hong Kong that DRAGON DANCE had finished tailed out, it will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a series of barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
Passing the 400 Metres, THE SHOW was bumped and taken wider by DRAGON MASTER which shifted out to obtain clear running.
After this, DRAGON MASTER lay out under pressure and proved difficult to ride.
AEROSPEED lay out rounding the Home Turn and when under pressure in the Straight, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten on occasions and consequently was not able to be fully tested.
Passing the 300 Metres, GOLDEN SLEEP shifted out abruptly away from the heels of SMART BOY.
Passing the 150 Metres, THE SHOW was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DRAGON MASTER which shifted out.
Approaching the 100 Metres, DESMIOS was shifted in away from the heels of AEROSPEED.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on AEROSPEED at the request of Trainer P O'Sullivan.
The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, AEROSPEED will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of DRAGON MASTER, CAPE THE FAITH and DRAGON DANCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
VOLITATION and WINNER'S WAY were sent for sampling.

Firming favourite Volitation advanced to the front 250m out following a dream run and easily held off Winner's Way for a third win at his 11th start. His tactical speed and ability to switch off should see him remain competitive in the middle of this grade. Winner's Way got too far back from a tricky gate and finished strongly to run down Green Card close to home for second. It was a good run in defeat and he remains a winning chance when next stepping out over 1,400m or a mile. Green Card closed off well following a rails run behind midfield with a step up in distance. The big weight has been holding him back after a win four starts back. Shamal held on much better after dictating the run from a tricky gate. It was his seventh start after arriving off a mark of 80 and may be ready to turn the corner. Desmios ran on well from behind midfield at his first run following an 11-month break. Dragon Master didn't get the trip following a rails run in midfield.
