Recap by phillip woo

Little Island repelled a challenge from Chater Legend after hitting the front 250m out following a move 650m out from near the rear to notch a first win at his 12th start. He's racing well but will be rated near the top of Class Three carrying weight which may make it harder for him to score another. Chater Legend took off 600m out from the rear of the field and his sustained run came up one position short. He has run well despite failing to draw a gate in three straight runs and remains a winning chance when next stepping out. Flaring Speed stayed on well after travelling fore of midfield to place in his first outing of the season. He'll come on for the run and won't be far off a winning run over a mile to 2,000m. Royal Partner ran his usual honest race to come from near last to fill a Quartet spot. Wait for a return to Class Four with him. Wah May Baby won last start over this trip and only lost a placing 50m out after vying for the lead from a tricky gate. If allowed to find his feet on the back of the speed, he might not be done winning yet.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (191)-KYOTO HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Metres

MASTER CERAMIBO was withdrawn on 15.11.16 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore tendon injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter INDUSTRIALIST WAY (O Murphy).

Before being allowed to race again, MASTER CERAMIBO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Whilst in the holding stables, A BEAUTIFUL was noted to be displaying signs of colic.

Acting on veterinary advice that A BEAUTIFUL was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of that horse.

Before being allowed to race again, A BEAUTIFUL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

PEARL WARM WARM began awkwardly and lost ground.

CHIU CHOW KID began only fairly.

From the outside barriers, ROYAL PARTNER, LITTLE ISLAND and CHATER LEGEND were all steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

When the pace slackened after the 1200 Metres, CHIU CHOW KID, which had been ridden along to maintain its position, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PEARL WARM WARM which was awkwardly placed behind GO GO WIN which in turn was being steadied away from the heels of GREAT CHARM (Apprentice K K Chiong) which steadied the tempo.

Apprentice Chiong was warned against the practice of steadying the tempo of races too abruptly.

CHATER LEGEND, which was following CHIU CHOW KID, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence.

In the early stages, THE SUPREME travelled wide and without cover and after the 1100 Metres was allowed to improve its position into the lead.

N Rawiller (THE SUPREME) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 900 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of WAH MAY BABY, causing that horse to be unnecessarily crowded for room and losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled.

N Rawiller was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 28 December 2016 and to expire on Thursday, 5 January 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In addition, N Rawiller was fined $30,000.

This period of suspension is to be served cumulatively with the period of suspension incurred by Jockey Rawiller emanating from the incident out of Race 3 on the programme.

After the 800 Metres, GO GO WIN got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GREAT CHARM which was being steadied to allow THE SUPREME to cross.

PEARL WARM WARM, which was following, shifted out away from the heels of GO GO WIN and bumped INDUSTRIALIST WAY, resulting in that horse and LITTLE ISLAND being taken wider.

Rounding the Home Turn, GREAT CHARM was awkwardly placed close to the heels of THE SUPREME.

Passing the 200 Metres, INDUSTRIALIST WAY was shifted in away from PEARL WARM WARM which drifted out under pressure.

A veterinary inspection of THE SUPREME and PEARL WARM WARM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ROYAL PARTNER, PEARL WARM WARM, LITTLE ISLAND and CHATER LEGEND were sent for sampling.
