Recap by phillip woo

Favourite King Bountiful needed every inch of the mile to run down the uncontested leader Sparkling Sword 30m out after travelling one from the rear for the win after knocking on the door in three of his opening four starts. He's good for another over a mile and further. Sparkling Sword was well rated on the lead and finished up a clear second for a third straight run. He'll win one shortly. Winaswewish ran on steadily from midfield to fill a placing. He has remained competitive in two outings at this level following a Class Five win but may be better suited over 1,800m and further now. Cash Courier ran on well down the outside despite lugging in 150m out from near the rear to just miss a placing. It was a positive performance despite a return to Class Four and he might be looking for 1,800m as well. Pearl Furu lost his chance when badly hampered 150m out when trying to wind up from the back. Don't write him off when next stepping out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (190)-NAKAYAMA HANDICAP (Sec2) - Class 4 - 1650Metres

BEST TANGO was withdrawn on 15.11.16 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore).

PRINCE FALCON was also withdrawn on 15.11.16 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore).

Before being allowed to race again, BEST TANGO and PRINCE FALCON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

PEARL FURU lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, UNBEATABLE GUTS and CASH COURIER bumped.

From the outside barrier, KING BOUNTIFUL was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, UNBEATABLE GUTS and CASH COURIER raced tight.

Rounding the Home Turn, PRECISIONCRAFTSMAN was bumped by WINASWEWISH which shifted out.

Near the 150 Metres, PEARL FURU was momentarily tightened for room between UNBEATABLE GUTS and CASH COURIER (S de Sousa) which shifted in.

S de Sousa consequently stopped riding and straightened his mount to relieve the tightening to PEARL FURU.

Over the concluding stages, CASH COURIER hung in, resulting in its rider having to stop riding prior to the winning post to prevent the horse from continuing to shift in and crowding PRECISIONCRAFTSMAN which was racing tight outside WINASWEWISH.

A veterinary inspection of LANSBURY and UNBEATABLE GUTS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

LANSBURY, KING BOUNTIFUL and SPARKLING SWORD were sent for sampling.
