Recap by phillip woo

Willie Way finished strongly down the outside after a deep run with cover beyond midfield from a wide gate to wear down favourite Master Gold to add to some fine form late last season. He was the superior stayer and remains one to follow over 1,800m and further on either surface. Master Gold was tight for room until the 200m, then dashed to the front 150m out and couldn't repel the winner's challenge. He lost nothing in defeat and can't be opposed on this surface. Good Fit found a couple too smart after taking off 500m out from behind midfield but was still a clear third in another genuine run on the dirt. Dragon Harmony hit the lead 300m out following a box-seat run and came up flat in the last 100m to finish level for fourth with the leader Po Ching Treasure. He had no excuse and will need a return to Class Five if he were to get back to the winner's circle. Travelling near the back, Geronimo Meadow went amiss and knocked Top Ace out of the race 1,400m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (154)-TIN HA SHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800Metres

AUTUMN GOLD was withdrawn on 1.11.16 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (coughing) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter TOP ACE.

Before being allowed to race again, AUTUMN GOLD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

GORGEOUS AGAIN was slow to begin.

Before being allowed to race again, GORGEOUS AGAIN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, DRAGON HARMONY jumped a shadow on the track and became unbalanced.

After passing the winning post on the first occasion, GERONIMO MEADOW broke down in its left front leg.

When GERONIMO MEADOW broke down, that horse shifted out abruptly, resulting in TOP ACE being severely hampered, striking the heels of GERONIMO MEADOW and blundering badly, causing its rider, C Schofield, to be dislodged.

C Schofield was subsequently examined by the Club's medical officers and passed fit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements.

Approaching the 500 Metres, GOOD FIT was shifted out away from the heels of GOLD DRAGON.

Rounding the Home Turn, IMPERIAL CONCORDE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ENTRUSTING when being shifted to the outside of that horse.

Passing the 400 Metres, ENTRUSTING raced tight inside MASTER GOLD.

Near the 300 Metres, IMPERIAL CONCORDE (S de Sousa) was steadied when crowded for room between GOLD DRAGON and KITAYA which, when giving ground abruptly, shifted out marginally away from MASTER GOLD.

S de Sousa stated after being awkwardly placed close to heels rounding the Home Turn and again passing the 300 Metres, IMPERIAL CONCORDE did not finish off the race thereafter and was disappointing.

A veterinary inspection of IMPERIAL CONCORDE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ENTRUSTING had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching the 200 Metres.

MASTER GOLD was awkwardly placed inside the heels of DIAMOND FRIENDS for some distance approaching the 200 Metres.

Passing the 200 Metres, DIAMOND FRIENDS was bumped by MASTER GOLD.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that TOP ACE had bled from both nostrils.

A veterinary inspection of KITAYA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of KITAYA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, KITAYA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of GOLD DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

WILLIE WAY and MASTER GOLD were sent for sampling.

Samples were also taken from GERONIMO MEADOW.
