Recap by phillip woo

Firming late to start equal favourite Mr Picasso came on strongly from three from the back to run down Hot Hot Pepper inside the last 50m for a first win at his fifth start. He's got a lot more up his sleeves. Co-favourite Hot Hot Pepper gave a good sight after working to the front 900m out from an awkward gate. He'll be breaking through shortly. Sight Seeing just failed to grab second following a sweet run behind the leaders. He's hit a bottom following two encouraging runs this term. Victor Emperor came on nicely from well back and very out after a sluggish break to just miss a placing. On the back of two positive runs this term from outside gates, it will only be a matter of time before he salute's the judge. Royal Spirit was making noticeable ground late. He does appear from his two outings this term to be near a bottom and is one to keep safe over a longer trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (050)-LEIGHTON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Metres

After being loaded into the barriers, it was noted that MR PICASSO had shifted its left front plate.

This resulted in MR PICASSO being removed from the barriers and the plate being reset.

During this process, a number of horses, which had been loaded into the barriers, were unloaded to prevent them from being in the barriers for an unreasonable amount of time.

MR PICASSO was subsequently examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

VICTOR EMPEROR began only fairly and then shortly after the start, from a wide barrier, was shifted across behind runners.

Despite being hard ridden for a considerable distance in the early stages, VOLITATION failed to muster speed and subsequently travelled wide and without cover throughout the race.

Approaching the 900 Metres, SIGHT SEEING was steadied away from the heels of HOT HOT PEPPER (Z Purton) which shifted in when not properly clear.

Z Purton was advised to exercise more care.

Making the turn after the 900 Metres, MISTRAL got its head on the side when awkwardly placed close to the heels of DIAMOND BIT.

ROYAL SPIRIT, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence.

For some distance after the 900 Metres, VICTOR EMPEROR got its head up when proving difficult to settle and awkwardly placed close to the heels of MR PICASSO.

After the 900 Metres, DON WONGCHOY was left racing wide and without cover.

Near the 850 Metres, EASY TOUCH shifted out across the heels of HOT HOT PEPPER and in doing so bumped SIGHT SEEING which was taken wider.

Approaching the 700 Metres, MR PICASSO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ELECTRONIC EMPIRE.

After the race, it was noted that ELECTRONIC EMPIRE had been galloped on the right hind leg and lost its right hind plate after the 800 Metres.

Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, ELECTRONIC EMPIRE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of GENTLEMEN which shifted out under pressure when giving ground.

MR PICASSO and HOT HOT PEPPER were sent for sampling.
