Mighty Wongchoy kept on nicely carrying a featherweight after assuming the front 200m out from Jimson The Famous despite tracking fast sectionals for a first win. He does appear to have the ability to score off a higher mark on either surface. Favourite Jimson The Famous went down fighting despite setting a good pace from a wide gate. The transition to the all-weather was not an issue after a pleasing turf effort last Sunday and he can get away with a race at this level. Winaswewish had the pace to suit but was the only one to make any ground from the back in a solid first run on the surface. He was suited by the drop in the grade and does handle the turf as well. Dragon Bachelor ran a big race in defeat after a handy run without cover from a wide gate. He's always dangerous at this level and do have your money ready when he draws a proper gate. Prince Falcon is clearly better on turf.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (029)-CHUNG ON HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Metres

PRECIOUS GEM began awkwardly and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY FRIENDSHIP which shifted out.

From a wide barrier, WINASWEWISH was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, DRAGON BACHELOR failed to muster speed and throughout the race travelled wide and without cover.

Approaching the 1400 Metres, CROATIA (K C Ng) got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of WINASWEWISH which shifted in before being directed back out to relieve the pressure to CROATIA.

After the race, K C Ng reported that CROATIA hung out throughout the race and proved difficult to ride.

A veterinary inspection of CROATIA immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, CROATIA will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

When questioned, C Schofield stated that MY CUP OVERFLOWS commenced to hang out rounding the first turn and after the 1400 Metres the bit pulled through the horse's mouth as a result of the manner in which it was hanging out.

He said MY CUP OVERFLOWS continued to hang out for the remainder of the race and consequently he was not able to test the horse which resulted in MY CUP OVERFLOWS becoming detached from the field.

A veterinary inspection of MY CUP OVERFLOWS immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg.

Having regard to MY CUP OVERFLOWS' previous racing history, the Stewards ruled that it must undergo a series of satisfactory consecutive barrier trials around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.

After the race, O Doleuze was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of THIS IS GLADIATOR.

He said although the horse had previously raced on the All Weather surface, in his opinion, THIS IS GLADIATOR did not appear to appreciate the surface and the tempo of the race.

A veterinary inspection of THIS IS GLADIATOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, THIS IS GLADIATOR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of HAPPY FRIENDSHIP immediately following the race found that horse to have an epiglottic entrapment.

MIGHTY WONGCHOY and JIMSON THE FAMOUS were sent for sampling.
