Racing Incident Report
Race Six: (006)-LUNG WUI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Metres
GOLD TALENT was withdrawn on 2.9.16 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore right fore tendon) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter BEST REWARD (Apprentice H N Wong).Before being allowed to race again, GOLD TALENT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
HAPPY FIERY DRAGON began only fairly.
EMPIRE OF MONGOLIA, which was fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly and lost ground.
From a wide barrier, ROUNDABOUT was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
FOREVER POSH lost its right hind plate in the early stages.
After the 1300 Metres, G-ONE UNION got its head up when being steadied to obtain cover.
Near the 950 Metres, RICHCITY FORTUNE momentarily raced in restricted room inside SMILING GLORY which got its head on the side and shifted in.
Near the 800 Metres, G-ONE UNION got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FOREVER POSH.
RICHCITY FORTUNE, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence.
RICHCITY FORTUNE was held up for clear running passing the 300 Metres.
Passing the 100 Metres, SMILING GLORY shifted in abruptly, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten his mount.
In the Straight, FOREVER POSH lay out under pressure.
Throughout the race, TRENDIFUL travelled wide and without cover.
Apprentice H T Mo was spoken to regarding the amount of whip he used on EMPIRE OF MONGOLIA in the Straight when that horse was out of contention.
When questioned, J Moreira (SMILING GLORY) stated that, from barrier 10, he had been asked to positon his mount behind the leaders with cover if possible.
He said after initially riding his mount along out of the barriers it became apparent to him that a number of horses were also being ridden to obtain forward positions and he felt that to continue riding his mount along would likely have resulted in SMILING GLORY having to race very wide and possibly without cover.
He said he therefore elected to steady his mount shortly after the start and obtain a position with cover closer to the rail.
He said he was initially not able to shift across behind G-ONE UNION as that horse was also being steadied to obtain cover.
He said approaching the 1000 Metres he attempted to improve between G-ONE UNION and RICHCITY FORTUNE to obtain a more forward position, however, he was unable to obtain this position without causing interference to RICHCITY FORTUNE and therefore he elected to steady his mount and race behind G-ONE UNION which resulted in the horse racing further back in the field than he had hoped.
He added SMILING GLORY raced greenly throughout the race and he recommended to connections that they consider adding blinkers to the horse's gear in its future starts.
A veterinary inspection of FOREVER POSH, G-ONE UNION and SMILING GLORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SMILING GLORY, ROUNDABOUT and BOLD STITCH were sent for sampling.

Roundabout finished strongly after travelling fourth from the rear following a slow break to win going away over the final 50m. He was too good with a drop in class. Bold Stitch lost nothing in defeat after hitting the front 120m out following a pace-stalking run. He's a genuine sort and will be hard to beat when next stepping out over his preferred 1,400m. Wonderful Journey gave a good sight after leading from a wide gate. He's open to further improvement. Forever Posh just failed to scrape his way into the Quartet following a prominent run but he does appear to be on the right track now. The Full Bloom was getting going late near the inside in a better run with a drop in grade and likely wants 1,400m. Early favourite Unleashed Dragon came up flat following a prominent run along the fence. Hopefully, it's a one-run blip. Smiling Glory peaked on his run 150m out but did have to cover a bit of ground.
