Recap by phillip woo

Vara Pearl quickened strongly with two wider out after travelling behind midfield and one off the fence to reel in Go Go Win 20m out for a third course-and-distance win from 14 outings this term. Firming late in betting, Go Go Win was parked deep on the speed without cover until rolling to the front 1,050m out, straightened a length on top and wouldn't go down without a fight. Danewin Express settled three back along the fence, straightened four deep and closed off steadily to run down Giant Turtle for a placing. Giant Turtle burst through the gates when jumping in the air to land a prominent spot on the fence, moved to third 60m out and lost a placing in the shadows of the post. Yourthewonforme rushed forward from midfield to sit outside the leader 700m out, straightened three deep and grudgingly gave way over the final 100m. Royal Partner was caught deep behind midfield, rushed to fourth 400m out, straightened five deep and came up one-paced over the final 150m. Prince Falcon eased back to travel worse than midfield after jumping reasonably well, straightened four from the right and made some ground without menacing. First Sight Love only got by beaten rivals with one wider out after travelling third from the rear.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (740)-TSAM CHUK WAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Metres

HAR HAR CHARMING was withdrawn on 21.6.16 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inappetence) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter PRINCE FALCON (K C Leung).

Before being allowed to race again, HAR HAR CHARMING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

On arrival at the Start, it was noted that SHINING CHAMPION had lost its left front plate.

After this plate was refitted, SHINING CHAMPION was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

As the start was effected, GIANT TURTLE became fractious and lunged at the front gates, resulting in the gate opening fractionally prior to the remaining gates.

As the Stewards were satisfied that GIANT TURTLE had not gained an advantage in this incident, weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.

DANEWIN EXPRESS was crowded for room on jumping between PRINCE FALCON and CASH COURIER which shifted out.

Shortly after the start, YOURTHEWONFORME was crowded for room between VARA PEARL and GO GO WIN which shifted out.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, DRAGON BACHELOR failed to muster speed and after passing the winning post on the first occasion was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

For some distance approaching and passing the 1300 Metres, YOURTHEWONFORME commenced to prove very difficult to settle and was checked away from the heels of PRINCE FALCON.

YOURTHEWONFORME continued to race keenly and after the 1000 Metres was shifted out away from the heels of PRINCE FALCON and allowed to improve its position.

Near the 900 Metres, PRINCE FALCON was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHINING CHAMPION.

Making the turn passing the 600 Metres, SHINING CHAMPION and ROYAL PARTNER bumped, causing both horses to become unbalanced.

For the majority of the race, ROYAL PARTNER travelled wide and without cover.

The performance of DRAGON BACHELOR, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, DRAGON BACHELOR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of SHINING CHAMPION and DRAGON BACHELOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ROYAL PARTNER, VARA PEARL and GO GO WIN were sent for sampling.
