Horse Supremo easily found the front from gate four, cornered near two lengths on top and kept up a good gallop for an upset win. Planet Giant settled fifth along the fence, switched into the open four deep at the 300m and finished well to run down Respect close to home for second. Respect plugged on reasonably well after sitting one off in second for a placing. Plunged late Ambitious Speedy made a steady bid with two wider out to inject further value into the Quartet following a deep run with cover in midfield in his first run on the surface. Victor Emperor was posted four deep with cover third from the rear, swung the final bend four from the right and did make headway late in a pleasing first outing on the dirt. Smart Salute made ground one off the fence after travelling third from the rear in an improved run with a switch to the dirt and gear change. Punted late, Modern Fortune came up one-paced over the final 200m. Hearts Keeper never ran on following a rails run travelling behind midfield. Favourite Hurricane Kid straightened four deep and came up flat over the final 250m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (726)-SAPPHIRE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Metres

HURRICANE KID began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, RESPECT, ELECTRONIC EMPIRE and SMART SALUTE all raced tight outside HELEN'S CHOICE which shifted out on jumping.

From the outside barrier, SOLAR GAGA was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

After the 1000 Metres, SOLAR GAGA proved difficult to settle and passing the 900 Metres shifted out away from the heels of VICTOR EMPEROR.

SOLAR GAGA then got its head on the side and made the turn near the 700 Metres awkwardly.

After the 300 Metres, PLANET GIANT was shifted out around the heels of RESPECT to obtain clear running.

Throughout the race, ELECTRONIC EMPIRE travelled wide and without cover.

The Stewards will interview Mr A T Millard, the trainer of HORSE SUPREMO, who was not on course today, regarding the improved performance of the horse prior to the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 22 June 2016.

When questioned, Apprentice K K Chiong stated that after having to race wide and without cover throughout the race, HELEN'S CHOICE became unbalanced in its action over the final 200 Metres.

She said after the race when proceeding back to the unplaced area, HELEN'S CHOICE still felt uncomfortable in its action.

A veterinary inspection of HELEN'S CHOICE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, HELEN'S CHOICE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of HURRICANE KID immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

HURRICANE KID, HORSE SUPREMO and PLANET GIANT were sent for sampling.
