Favourite Unique Joyous recovered to travel midfield along the fence after a sluggish break, eased out three deep for a clear run at the 300m and responded well to get up 80m out for a third straight win. Fine Rock hunted to the lead from a wide gate, straightened a length on top and kept on gamely with money coming for him late. Fancy Music settled worse than midfield and one off the fence after a slow break, stayed near the inside upon straightening and finished well at a price to finish a clear-cut third. Gold Talent settled fore of midfield along the fence, peeled six deep upon straightening and stayed on well to fill a Quartet spot. Prince Falcon ran on a non-threatening fifth with two wider out after travelling fourth from the rear. Step High was doing his best work late without menacing after travelling third from the rear. Real Generous ran on with one wider out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (689)-HKU FACULTIES OF MEDICINE AND ENGINEERING HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1600Metres

REAL GENEROUS was very slow to begin.

UNIQUE JOYOUS and ANIMATION MASTER were slow to begin.

From the outside barrier, PRINCE FALCON was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

Approaching the 1300 Metres, FANCY MUSIC was momentarily eased away from the heels of ONE OF A KIND which shifted in.

FINE ROCK hung out making the Home Turn.

For the majority of the race, IMPERIAL SEAL travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the performance of ROUGE ET BLANC, N Rawiller stated that, from barrier 13, he was asked to be positive on the horse and obtain a forward position.

He said he had to make some use of ROUGE ET BLANC in the early stages to cross runners to his inside so as to avoid being obliged to race unnecessarily wide.

He said he commenced to ride ROUGE ET BLANC along prior to the Home Turn as it is one-paced and was dropping back in distance today, therefore he wanted to ensure that the horse was not left flat-footed when the pace of the race quickened.

He added however that after being placed under pressure, ROUGE ET BLANC immediately came under pressure and then, despite being ridden out in the early part of the Straight, did not respond and gave ground over the latter stages of the Straight.

He said the performance of ROUGE ET BLANC was attributable to the amount of use that had to be made of the horse in the early stages to cross runners from its wide barrier.

A veterinary inspection of ROUGE ET BLANC immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

A veterinary inspection ANIMATION MASTER immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, ANIMATION MASTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

UNIQUE JOYOUS and FINE ROCK were sent for sampling.
