Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (685)-VIOLET HILL HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1800Metres
VANILLA began awkwardly, shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of LOTUS STRIKES BACK.After this, VANILLA was shifted across behind runners.
From the outside barrier, LUCKY OMENS was shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
After travelling a short distance, HEROIC GURU was awkwardly placed outside the heels of PO CHING TREASURE.
At the 300 Metres, LITTLE ISLAND raced tight inside PO CHING TREASURE which got its head on the side and shifted in.
LITTLE ISLAND then again raced tight inside PO CHING TREASURE approaching and passing the 200 Metres when improving into narrow running between that horse and CLASSIC EMPEROR.
Passing the 100 Metres, C K Tong (SEMPITERNAL) dropped his right rein.
Over the concluding stages, LITTLE ISLAND raced tight between PO CHING TREASURE and CLASSIC EMPEROR which shifted out marginally.
In this incident, LITTLE ISLAND bumped the hindquarters of PO CHING TREASURE which became unbalanced.
When questioned, Apprentice H N Wong (PO CHING TREASURE) stated that he had obtained a good trailing position behind CLASSIC EMPEROR in the early stages and he was content to maintain this position throughout the middle stages.
He said however that making the turn after the 1100 Metres PO CHING TREASURE shifted out marginally away from the heels of CLASSIC EMPEROR which was being steadied after the race was run at a good tempo in the early stages.
He said when PO CHING TREASURE shifted out near the 1000 Metres, he attempted to steady it in order to resume his position behind CLASSIC EMPEROR, however, at this time PO CHING TREASURE had advanced to be racing outside the heels of that horse.
He said he also received a call from the rider of BISHOP'S LEAP which improved to be racing along PO CHING TREASURE.
He said because of this he was not able to shift in and PO CHING TREASURE was consequently required to race three wide and without cover for the remainder of the race.
A veterinary inspection of FOODIE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LOTUS STRIKES BACK, HEROIC GURU and HAPPY SPIRIT were sent for sampling.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Sha Tin Racemeeting on 29 May 2016 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of TIANHUANG, SPRING WIN, GOOD METHOD, BLAZING PASS, MI SAVVY BOY, RED KYLIN, WONDERFUL CHASER, HOME RUN, NAMJONG INVINCIBLE, FLYING FORCE, MALMSTEEN, FASHION MAESTRO, BEAUTY KINGDOM, DRAGON MASTER, GALLANT ROCK, WINFULL PATROL, RAPPER DRAGON, BEAUTY ONLY, LUCKY GIRL, GENERAL OF PATCH, ENERGETIC CLASS, NEW ASIA SUNRISE and RACING SUPERNOVA revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of MAMBO ROCK, ARM RUNDA, HAPPY FRIENDSHIP, DRAGON HARMONY, VICTORY MARVEL, REGENCY DARLING, DR LISTENING, PENIAPHOBIA, AMAZING KIDS, ABLE DEED, BEAUTY LOVE, GORGEOUS LEGEND, CARE FREE PRINCE, MOLLY'S JADE STAR, G-ONE LOVER, FULL GLORY, GENERAL SHERMAN, WERTHER, BLAZING SPEED, VICTORY MAGIC, MOMENTUM LUCKY, FIONESAY, LAUGH OUT LOUD, SICHUAN VIGOUR, HARBOUR MASTER, CIRCUIT LAND, MY DARLING and SICHUAN DAR (22.5.16) proved negative.

Firming late in betting, Heroic Guru was patiently ridden fifth from the rear, stayed near the inside upon straightening and finished willingly to collar the front-running Happy Spirit in the final few metres for an overdue win following a seconds in two prior starts. Thumped late in betting, Happy Spirit enjoyed an uncontested lead, straightened two lengths on top and found one too smart in his first attempt over the 1,800m. Hammered at long odds, Classic Emperor tracked the leader in second, straightened four deep and kept on gamely to give the tierce some value. Favourite Lotus Strikes Back settled fourth from the rear, swung the final bend widest out and got going late to snatch fourth from Po Ching Treasure on the wire. Po Ching Treasure was posted three deep without cover for the most part, straightened four deep and came up one-paced over the final 100m. Sempiternal was only grinding away near the inside following a prominent run along the fence. Towering Storm ran on without menacing five deep after travelling third from the rear along the fence.
