Racing Incident Report
Race Ten: (592)-AUDEMARS PIGUET JULES AUDEMARS HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1600Metres
BERLINI began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped MIGHTY MAVERICK.GREEN DISPATCH shifted in at the start and made contact with DYNAMISM.
WINNING LEADER and CLOUD NINE bumped on jumping.
DOYENI lost its both front plates whilst SERGEANT TITANIUM lost its right front plate in the early stages.
At the 400 Metres, RACING HERO was steadied away from the heels of CONSORT which shifted out.
Throughout the race, WINNING LEADER, DOYENI and SERGEANT TITANIUM travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned, C Schofield stated that when ridden from behind at its last start, CONSORT had raced keenly.
He said as the horse had shown good speed in a recent trial and had raced on the speed prior to being imported into Hong Kong, it was decided for the horse to be ridden in a forward position but not necessarily to lead.
He said after beginning fairly he initially rode CONSORT along, however, the horse was then able to improve into a forward position without any further pressure.
He said he had hoped to obtain a trailing position behind the leaders, however, when unable to do so, he allowed CONSORT to continue into the lead after the 1400 Metres.
He said CONSORT did not settle at any stage after this and travelled too keenly and consequently was not able to close off the race.
He added, in his opinion, CONSORT handled the track conditions today and the horse's disappointing run could be attributed to the manner in which it travelled in the early and middle stages.
A veterinary inspection of CONSORT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, M Chadwick stated that after beginning well DOYENI did not show early speed as was anticipated despite being niggled along.
He said after losing both front plates in the early stages, DOYENI never travelled comfortably and then did not close off the race.
He added, in his opinion, DOYENI did not seem to handle the rain affected track.
A veterinary inspection of DOYENI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
MIGHTY MAVERICK, BERLINI and SANTA FE SUN were sent for sampling.
GENERAL:
1.
After the running of Race 4, the track classification was officially changed from "Good" to "Good to Yielding".
This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.
As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 4 being run on a track rated "Good to Yielding".
2.
Trainers J Size, J Moore and P F Yiu were each fined $3,000 for working a horse on the 1800 Metre grass gallop on Thursday, 21 April 2016 when restrictions applied to the use of that training facility on that day.

Trainer A T Millard was fined $6,000 for working two horses on the 1800 Metre grass gallop on Thursday, 21 April 2016 when restrictions applied to the use of that training facility on that day.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Happy Valley Racemeeting on 20 April 2016 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of GOLD TARTINI, GLAMOROUS RYDER, BORNFREE, PEARL WIN, MASSIVE POWER, MASTER VIKING, NEVER BETTER, BUSINESS AS USUAL, NEWSWIRE FREE, JOLLY GENE, ALLCASH, SKY MAN, TRIUMPHANT JEWEL, HAPPY SPIRIT, GONNA RUN, HEROIC GURU, MY DARLING and TIMELY ARRIVED revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of DOUBLE MASTER, GIDDY GIDDY, HIGHLAND DRAGON, EXTREMELY FUN, WAH MAY BABY, RICHCITY FORTUNE, FAIRY TWINS, NITRO EXPRESS, SPEEDY WALLY, VICTORY BOYS, MR VANILLA, WHO'STHEDUDE, TOM'S CHARM, THE SYLPH, BACK IN BLACK, ALL GREAT FRIENDS, TOP BONUS, SMART DECLARATION, GRACE HEART, JUN HUO, PIKACHU, MAGICAL BEAUTY, RED MARVEL and FORMULA WON (13.4.16) proved negative.

Berlini recovered to travel behind midfield along the fence after a sluggish break, improved to park on the back of the speed upon straightening, powered to the lead 350m out and kept up a strong gallop despite a tendency to wander out for back-to-back wins. He relished the wet going. Santa Fe Sun came from last after switching inside for a clear run at the 250m to get up a clear second. Joyful Trinity settled one off the fence in midfield, rounded the final bend five deep and ran on steadily to finish a non-threatening third. Winning Leader ran on steadily with two wider out after being cast four deep with cover in midfield to snatch a Quartet spot in the final stride. It was a better run following a move to blinkers. Late-plunged favourite, Mighty Maverick eased into the open six deep after stalking the leader Consort one-off in second, loomed a chance at the 300m and came up one-paced over the final 150m. Sergeant Titanium was grudgingly gave way after a prominent run without cover from a wide gate. Punted late, Doyeni failed to respond in the stretch drive after travelling without cover the entire trip in midfield from a wide gate. Early favourite Consort rushed to lead from a wide gate 1,250m out, cornered a length on top and was beaten 300m out despite a drop in class.
