Jolly Gene travelled behind midfield without cover, pressed forward to sit third at the 700m, swept to the lead five deep at the 180m and just held off the favourite Allcash for a second win from 13 starts. Allcash stayed on nicely three deep following a handy run with cover. Towering Storms straightened with two wider out after making his move 500m out following a one-off run in midfield and kept on well for a placing. Happy Rocky had no excuse following a box-seat run. China Delight finished nicely with one wider out after travelling second from the rear. Flaring Speed peeled into the open four deep upon straightening following a rails run in midfield and made some ground without menacing. Punted late, Savvy Nature made only a mild bid following a one-off trip travelling worse than midfield. Little Island was yielding ground 150m out after press forward out deep from a wide gate to eventually land a one-off spot in second at the 1,500m. Forever Posh slowed the race to a crawl mid-race but didn't have much left in the 200m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (579)-THE HONG KONG RUGBY UNION CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 2200Metres

From wide barriers, VANILLA and AMAZING AGILITY were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, JOLLY GENE failed to muster speed and passing the winning post on the first occasion was left racing wide and without cover.

Near the 1900 Metres, TOWERING STORM was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SAVVY NATURE.

Near the 1300 Metres, CHINA DELIGHT became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room inside TOWERING STORM which shifted in away from JOLLY GENE.

FLARING SPEED made the Home Turn awkwardly after racing close to the heels of HAPPY ROCKY.

A veterinary inspection of FOREVER POSH immediately following the race found the horse to be displaying post-race distress.

Before being allowed to race again, FOREVER POSH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

JOLLY GENE and ALLCASH were sent for sampling.
