BEAR CHUM began awkwardly.LOOK ERAS and BEAR CHUM were sent for sampling.

Look Eras tracked the leading pair of Arm Runda and Bear Chum, peeled to the middle for a clear run 350m out, advanced to the front 200m out and drew clear to win the first Griffin run of the season. Raging favourite Bear Chum sat underneath Arm Runda in the run after travelling two off the stands side from a low berth to grab second 130m out. Arm Runda couldn't offer any more approaching the 100m after showing good early gate speed to lead on the stands side from gate three. Both Mambo Rock and Holy Unicorn struggled to stay in touch with the first three and were never factors.
