Post-time favourite Volitation travelled three deep without cover in fourth, advanced to the front five deep inside the 200m and held off the steady bid of Winner St Paul's for a first win at his third start with a suitable rise in trip. Winner St Paul's finished nicely four deep after a handy run one off the fence. Geronimo Meadow was strung up in traffic until working into the open six deep passing the 300m following a rails run behind midfield to get up for a placing. Specked late, Inventor was held up behind the tiring leaders following a three back run along the fence until pulling out three deep at the 250m and finished nicely thereafter to just miss a placing. Early favourite Team Sweet got shuffled back to last at the 750m after taking the sit from a wide gate, peeled into the open with one wider out at the 300m and finished well to get up for a minor cheque.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (509)-CYMBIDIUM HANDICAP (Sec3) - Class 4 - 1400Metres

ELITE PRIDE and HASTILY FEET bumped at the start.

RAINBOW GOLD was slow to begin.

Despite being aggressively ridden in the early and middle stages, PENNY LANE failed to muster speed and consequently travelled back in the field.

From a wide barrier, TEAM SWEET was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

After the 1000 Metres, VOLITATION was left racing wide and without cover.

Near the 950 Metres, TEAM SWEET got its head up after having to be steadied when attempting to improve between PENNY LANE and RAINBOW GOLD where there was insufficient room.

In this incident, RAINBOW GOLD was hampered when bumped by TEAM SWEET.

STARRY STARLIES, which was following, was hampered in consequence.

Near the 800 Metres, TEAM SWEET was checked when crowded for room between ELITE PRIDE and RAINBOW GOLD which got its head on the side and shifted out rounding the turn.

After the race, B Prebble (HASTILY FEET) stated that his mount became unbalanced in its action near the 200 Metres and as he had concern for the horse's welfare, he eased it down from this point.

After viewing the video, it was established that HASTILY FEET became unbalanced after being galloped on by PENNY LANE when that horse was taken out across the heels of HASTILY FEET by GERONIMO MEADOW (N Rawiller) which, after being held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight, was shifted out to obtain clear running.

N Rawiller was reprimanded.

A veterinary inspection of HASTILY FEET immediately following the race found the horse to have sustained a small cut outside the right hind cannon.

Passing the 200 Metres, MOTIF was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SILVER GATSBY.

Then passing the 100 Metres, MOTIF momentarily raced in restricted room inside SILVER GATSBY which shifted in marginally.

A veterinary inspection of MOTIF immediately following the race found the horse, which had previously been reported as a "roarer", was again making an abnormal respiratory noise.

VOLITATION and WINNER ST PAUL'S were sent for sampling.
