Recap by phillip woo

Punted late, California Joy settled one off the fence worse than midfield, straightened three deep and quickened well to take control 160m out for a first win at his fifth start. Good For You eventually slotted in one off the fence in fifth from a wide gate, straightened five deep and finished well to grab second close to home in an improved run with the head gear removed and a step to a mile. Late-plunged favourite, Lightning And Gold travelled deep on the course third from the rear, swung the final bend widest out and finished willingly to snatch third on the wire. Real Supreme gave a cheeky sight on the lead only to get swamped in the final few metres after setting a good pace. Sparkling Sword stalked the leader and came up one-paced over the final 150m. Prince Falcon came on all right three deep after travelling fourth from the rear in an improved run.

IMPERIAL GALLANTRY hung in under pressure in the Straight and near the 100 Metres got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly away from LIGHTNING AND GOLD (J Moreira) which was shifting in under pressure.

IMPERIAL GALLANTRY then continued to shift in and proved very awkward when racing between LIGHTNING AND GOLD and ELECTRONIC PHOENIX which was also hampered when taken in by IMPERIAL GALLANTRY.

J Moreira was advised that whilst the racing manners of IMPERIAL GALLANTRY had been largely responsible for this incident, nonetheless he had permitted LIGHTNING AND GOLD to shift in under pressure.
