Recap by phillip woo

Punted late, Ultimate Glory landed a lovely spot one off the fence in fifth from a wide gate, grabbed a narrow lead from Bullish Smart at the 150m and had to fight that one off for a narrow win. Bullish Smart was kept honest on the lead to his outside by Sparkling Sword, circled the final bend a length on top and went down fighting when headed 150m out. Land Grant enjoyed a lovely run in the box-seat, stayed to the inside upon straightening and kept on gamely without menacing the top pair. Magnetism travelled behind midfield along the fence, straightened near four deep and got up 100m out for a Quartet spot. Selkirk Star ran on reasonably well four deep after travelling third from the rear to just miss a Quartet spot. Vara Pearl made ground near the inside without menacing following a patient ride second from the rear. Favourite Acclaimed Light made some ground widest out without ever looking a chance after making his run one off the fence outside Magnetism. Bossiee was struggling 200m out following a one-out, one-back run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (452)-SIU SAI WAN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Metres

BOSSIEE began awkwardly and then shortly after the start was crowded for room between REGENCY KING which became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by BOSSIEE and LAND GRANT which got its head on the side and shifted out.

After becoming unbalanced, REGENCY KING then shifted out and inconvenienced VARA PEARL which was then steadied and shifted across behind REGENCY KING.

MAGNETISM shifted in at the start and bumped ACCLAIMED LIGHT.

MAGNETISM was then shifted across behind runners.

Passing the 1400 Metres, VARA PEARL was checked when crowded for room inside MAGNETISM which got its head on the side and shifted in away from ACCLAIMED LIGHT despite the efforts of its rider.

MAGNETISM was then unable to shift out and relieve the tightening to VARA PEARL due to ACCLAIMED LIGHT shifting in and taking up the room made available to it by MAGNETISM laying in.

As the Stewards were satisfied this incident was as a result of MAGNETISM shifting in of its own accord, no further action was taken.

Making the Home Turn, BOSSIEE became unbalanced when bumped by ULTIMATE GLORY which improved to its outside.

Approaching the 200 Metres, SELKIRK STAR was shifted in away from the heels of BOSSIEE which was commencing to give ground.

Passing the winning post, ULTIMATE GLORY became unbalanced after jumping a shadow.

A veterinary inspection of BOSSIEE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

ACCLAIMED LIGHT, ULTIMATE GLORY and BULLISH SMART were sent for sampling.

Omission from Racing Incidents Report of 28 February 2016 Sha Tin Racemeeting - Race 8 (442) When questioned, N Rawiller stated that it was anticipated SECRET SHAM would take up a customary forward position in this race.

He said when he had ridden the horse previously, it had been able to go forward without having to be made use of.

He said in this race SECRET SHAM began awkwardly and then did not, in his opinion, show enough early speed to be able to clear runners to its inside, namely CONTENTMENT and BEAUTY FLAME which were showing superior early speed.

He said rather than ride SECRET SHAM along, he elected to obtain a position with cover, however, due to the compressed nature of the field, he had to steady SECRET SHAM approaching the 1100 Metres in an endeavour to obtain a trailing position behind CHARLES THE GREAT.

He said however that REWARDING HERO assumed a position one horse off the rail inside SECRET SHAM and for this reason he was left racing wide and without cover throughout the race.

He added it had not been intended for SECRET SHAM to be ridden from the rear in this race, however, the manner in which the horse began and the circumstances of the race in the early stages resulted in it being ridden in this manner.
