Racing Incident Report
Race Three: (437)-CITI ULTIMA CARD HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Metres
MALMSTEEN began awkwardly.WONDERFUL COUPLES was crowded for room on jumping between INCREDIBLE FELLOW and IRON BOY, both of which shifted ground.
BRAVE KNIGHT was slow to begin.
In the early stages, TRIUMPHANT JEWEL failed to muster speed despite being vigorously ridden along.
Near the 850 Metres, MALMSTEEN got its head up when travelling close to the heels of HAPPY METEOR.
Passing the 800 Metres, POWER DRAGON was eased away from the heels of TRIUMPHANT JEWEL.
Near the 700 Metres, TRIUMPHANT JEWEL was crowded for room between WASHINGTON HEIGHTS which shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of INCREDIBLE FELLOW and MALMSTEEN which shifted in away from the heels of HAPPY METEOR.
For some distance after the 300 Metres, FIVE STARS AGENT raced tight outside YOUNG EMPIRE after improving into restricted room outside that horse which was giving ground.
At the 200 Metres, BRAVE KNIGHT was directed in away from the heels of INCREDIBLE FELLOW which shifted out away from the heels of MALMSTEEN when commencing to give ground abruptly.
A veterinary inspection of HAPPY METEOR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS and MALMSTEEN were sent for sampling.

Newcomer Washington Heights defied a no-cover run on the far side in midfield from a tricky gate to hit the front 150m out and kept on gamely thereafter carrying top weight to get his local career off to a bright start. Favourite Malmsteen was handy in the run near the centre of the course, swept to a narrow lead 250m out and found one too smart in the run to the wire. Triumphant Jewel stayed on gamely for a placing after travelling on the winner's flank. Dragon General made his run two off the stands side in midfield, angled out for a clear run at the 300m and kept grinding away to finish a non-threatening fourth. He might be looking for a longer trip. Brave Knight settled behind midfield and one off the grandstand side after a slow break, shifted towards the centre of the track for a clear run at the 400m and stayed on reasonably well to finish a distant fifth in an improved run with a drop to the minimum trip. Happy Meteor, Incredible Fellow and Young Empire knocked up badly after sharing the lead at one point. Five Stars Agent made his run in midfield along the stands side, lost some ground when having to steady from the tiring Young Empire from the 300m to 250m and gave up the chase soon after.
