Ashkiyr bided his time second from the rear from a wide gate, switched into the open with two wider out at the 300m, let down willingly to hit the front 100m out and just held off the late surge of the firming favourite Easy Hedge for a second win at his 38th start. Easy Hedge was badly held up four deep upon straightening following a one-off run in midfield, switched into the open 220m out and finished full of run to make it close with a rise in class and distance. He should have won. Selkirk Star settled behind midfield along the fence, swept to the front four deep at the 150m and found a couple too smart in the end. Charity Kingdom travelled one off the fence just better than midfield, rallied five deep upon straightening and kept plugging away to inject some value into the Quartet. Sempiternal enjoyed a prominent run along the fence, pulled out three deep at the 350m and kept on evenly over the last 150m. Happy Rocky made some ground near the outside after travelling fourth from the rear. Gold Dragon didn't let down as expected rounding the final bend six deep following a one-off run just beyond midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eleven: (397)-KUNG HEI HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1800Metres

MAC ROW was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, EASY HEDGE shifted in and raced tight outside SELKIRK STAR.

From wide barriers, ASHKIYR, HAPPY ROCKY and MCQUEEN were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After being left racing wide and without cover, ALLCASH was allowed to improve its position after the 1200 Metres to race outside the lead.

Making the turn near the 900 Metres, HAPPY ROCKY momentarily raced in restricted room between SELKIRK STAR and MCQUEEN which shifted in.

SELKIRK STAR was held up for clear running until near the 300 Metres.

EASY HEDGE was badly held up for clear running until near the 250 Metres.

Approaching the 50 Metres, INDUSTRIALIST WAY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHARITY KINGDOM.

DALWARI, which travelled wide and without cover for the majority of the race, was found to have bled from both nostrils after the race.

A veterinary inspection of MCQUEEN and ALLCASH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

ASHKIYR and EASY HEDGE were sent for sampling.
